"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

So yesterday was the celebration of my 70 years on this planet, my birthday.
I guess I'm officially old. I honestly don't know where the years have gone, but I'll be happy to have as many as the Good Lord allows me.
We had a small celebration at my youngest son's home with my wife, 2 sons, 2 grandsons, a great grand daughter and my daughter in law.
It was the first time since the pandemic started that we had been in their home. We had a great visit and I got a few gifts.
My youngest son got me a baseball cap from Suny Cortland where he's a professor. My oldest son got me this mini Copperhead in vintage stag. Although the stag is rather anemic, as Case's stag seems to be, I'll treasure this little knife.

Well, happy birthday! I have that same vintage stag mini copperhead. It's a nice pattern and enjoyable to use.

Happy Birthday, Garry.
You scored some nice swag.
Thanks, John! The best gift was the time spent with family, but I agree!

Happy Birthday!!!
Thanks, r8shell

Happy Birthday Gary!
Thanks, Tom!

Happy Birthday, Gary! Sounds like it was a good one.
Pandemically speaking it was John.

My mom used to call me on my birthday and sing Happy Birthday to me. Thanks for making me think of that, although I'm sure her sweet voice was much better than yours!:D

Happy Birthday Gary. 70 I remember it well. Lol
Thanks, Alan. I hope I can say the same for a long time!

Peregrin Peregrin sounds like an appealing day, good to see the family and getting worshipped

Since you like Dr Johnson here's another of his witticisms to contemplate, on ageing " Let us drink water Sir, and put in for a hundred! " Maybe something with the water though;):D
Thanks, Will! It was an official "don't pick on hubby, dad, grandad" day. Of course we returned to reality the next day!;)

Bourbon and water to end the evening!
Our Italian toast is "Cent'Anni", meant to imply "May you live 100 years".

A belated Happy Birthday, and many, many happy returns Gary :) It sounds like you had a great day my friend :)
Thanks, Jack! It was a grand day! Seeing the grandkids in their element is really a treat.

A belated Happy Birthday, Gary!! I'm happy for you, (and a little envious!!) that you got to have a family get-together!!
Some nice meaningful gifts, along with your family time!! Congrats young man!!:D
Thanks, Charlie! I'm lucky that most of my children have stayed in the Syracuse area. We've all been doing the responsible thing in light of the pandemic, so it was time to let the guard down a bit.

Happy birthday Peregrin. I'm getting old me too and all i can say is that i'm happy to have survived to my youth!

Dan.
Thanks, Dan. I hear you. I was a bit reckless when I was young. I'm glad I grew out of it!

Thanks, Ace! It's a well made little knife, and I'll enjoy carrying and using it. The best part is it's a gift from my son.

Happy birthday Gary.

Happy belated birthday Gary I'm not far behind you either. I'm glad you got to spend time with your family I'm sure that meant much more to you than the presents. This virus have sure changed our lives, my granddaughter is a hair dresser and is going to cut my hair tomorrow it's the first time it's been cut since this started I look like a Qtip. :D But the important thing about this haircut is I get to see my great grandson he'll be 2 years old next month and I've only saw him once since March.

Happy birthday Gary.
Thanks, Christian.

Thanks, Randy! I got my first haircut last Friday. Boy, it felt good! I was looking like my late 1960s self, except old and grey!

I hope you have a great visit with your grandson! Our granddaughter's 1st birthday is today. We celebrated her birthday with mine last Sunday.

Happy Birthday Gary, nice to hear of the celebration with your family. You have been blessed and are a blessing.:thumbsup: :)
Thank you, James! It really is all about family "alla famiglia". I've been called many things and blessing is one of the nicest! Thank you, you're a blessing yourself, and so is this porch family of ours.
