Princessship.

Hmm, the Oxford English Dictionary lists that as a hyphenated word: princess-ship. I’m not sure that counts. ;)

They do list “frillless” (unhyphenated) as a derivative under the entry for “frill.” :D

But I think, as a general rule, English words that would contain the same three letters in row are hyphenated (bell-like, cross-section).

Jer, the quality of the pictures you're posting has risen steadily, over the past year or so.

The quality of your prose remains high.

I haven't posted a picture for many months. The coal chute, or boiler (?) broke on my iPad 2, and gone for me are the days of effortless picture posting. Arghhh...
Shucks, thanks.
Sorry about your i-pad.

Did something today I don't think I've done before: put a pocketknife in a clothes washer and dryer.

Fortunately it was not an expensive wood, stag, or bone handled knife. It was a Case lockback, stainless steel, Valox handle. I took it on a bike ride this morning. It's also my going-to-the-beach knife. Doesn't seem to be any the worse for wear. I just oiled it and put it away. :)

Nice! I'll have to keep that one in my memory.

What does the average guy all over the world say when he ears that his mother in law will not come and spend the week-end?
"yay."
Although a former chronically unemployed acquaintance of mine would have said: "No kidding. She been pushing up weeds and crab grass for 20 years before I married her daughters."
(one divorced him and her older sister (that poor woman) married him 8 months later.)

I've done that a few times over the decades. My experience has been much the same as yours: It's never damaged anything. Though, like you, I've never done it to a bone-handled knife or a carbon steel blade.

It gets a tad more interesting when you do that to a pocket flashlight. Done that a couple of times, too. I fixed that one by switching from an AAA light to an AA light. Much easier to spot when checking my pockets.

Yeah, Frank, that Case lockback is so light I forgot it was there.

LuMPFish....as for zzzzyyzx whatever that is...is it really a word if nobody ever uses it ?
Well ... it is the last city listed in the Rand McNally Road Atlas ... I'd guess someone there uses it.
I've never took that exit, but I've heard it is a pretty nifty cool ghost town. People who make a habit of visiting those probably use it. :)

I've done it with a couple of case knives...
Both had bone handles and one had CV blades.
They came out just fine without any damage.

Prester John Prester John and knarfeng knarfeng - - Vince and Frank. Never fear Ed's here. I've got some denim shorts that need washing so, in a few minutes, I'm going to load the pockets of the shorts with these two knives and we'll see what happens.

Schrade Fire & Ice Trapper with jigged bone covers by GEC and a Buck Creek Copperhead with stag covers. 1095 on the Schrade and i think carbon steel on the Buck Creek too.

OK!!!! They're in. The washer is filling with water as I type this. Nothing special done to either knife. I just pulled them from my knife box, put them in the short's pockets and put them in the washer. Both are very nice knives with very nice covers. We'll see what happens. This is gonna be fun.

OK!!!! They're out of the washer and dryer. Nothing spectacular to report just some fading of the covers on both knives along with some additional dis-coloring of both knive's blades. The Buck Creek shield fell out. There is no noticeable swelling or shrinkage of the covers on either knife but I intend to leave the knives out on my desk and not oil any parts of the knives for a few days.
