OK!!!! They're out of the washer and dryer. Nothing spectacular to report just some fading of the covers on both knives along with some additional dis-coloring of both knive's blades. The Buck Creek shield fell out. There is no noticeable swelling or shrinkage of the covers on either knife but I intend to leave the knives out on my desk and not oil any parts of the knives for a few days.

Wow! :eek::confused::p

OK!!!! They're in. The washer is filling with water as I type this. Nothing special done to either knife. I just pulled them from my knife box, put them in the short's pockets and put them in the washer. Both are very nice knives with very nice covers. We'll see what happens. This is gonna be fun.

Go Navy!

You SIR are a true adventurer! Way to go Ed :thumbsup: :cool:
You, Modoc ED Modoc ED , are a scientist.

I have a shocking mental image of Ed in his Laboratory/laundry room....
There are gurgling test tubes of coloured liquids, flasks with fractionating columns, metal antennae with blue sparks arcing noisily...A blackboard with diagrams and formulae denoting the experiment...
Ed cavorts about the lab armed with gauntlets and forging tongs....he whistles the Milton The Monster Show theme as the knives are placed and the washing machine door shut....the Chimps and other animals scream and rattle their cages reaching a crescendo of insanity as the cycle begins.

I was a teenager when I first tried them. They instantly became my favorite cereal. You have to put lots of milk. Cover the cereal with it.
Did you ever try them hot? That also helps break down those little mighty-bits of bran. I did make the mistake of eat a BIG bowl of grape nuts once. It is the kind of mistake you only make once, too.

Alright guys and gals. I came out this morning and checked on the knives that I purposely washed and dried yesterday in our washing machine and drier. There's absolutely no swelling or curling of the covers and no rust what-so-ever anywhere on the knives. I used an oily rag to wipe them down and glued the Buck Creek's shield back on and they're ready to go. The only lasting effect that I can see is a bit of discoloring of the blades that I could easily polish off but I kinda like em in their present state so, I'll leave em alone. It's been fun!!:thumbsup::) Here they are post experiment.

When you stop and think about it, a knife or whatever is really not exposed to moisture all that long in the washing cycle of a washing machine so, not enough time to penetrate, swell, or curl bone or stag covers. Even if you left yer clothes in the washing machine over night, there still wouldn't be enough moisture content to affect (or is it effect) the covers.

Experiment over.:rolleyes: I hope Prester John Prester John and knarfeng knarfeng are happy and satisfied.

Never hot. Love them cold.
