I find the flat grind Bird & Trout type to be really excellent, it fits the hand so well and slices or fillets brilliantly. Nice to have a Canadian knife.

It does look slim in the pic . . .FB means Fixed Blade!!Flipping heck that top one looks like he's been on a diet
By the way what id FB?
What's Llamaland??Like me. That's what made me finally get one. I didn't have to anguish about grind or steel because shipping time from Canada in the lockdown was infinite, so I took what Llamaland had, which might have been my choice anyway. Stainless saber.

The #1.
From my extensive research (google)What's Llamaland??
It's a Monty Python reference to suggest the jungle site. What's Llamaland??
I think the rearward narrowing is supposed to lessen drag, also, but I'm blowing smoke even if they're not.It seems to me that the seminal characteristic of the Canadian pattern is the lifted angle of the handle vs. the line of the blade. I can see that as an advantage in the kitchen when used on a cutting board, but how does it work in the field? I've never tried one, but am curious.
Unfortunately, the saber grind impedes smooth slicing somewhat!!
It strengthens a blade, but tends to "wedge" into material, rather than slice!! Only a super sharp edge can combat that action!!
Great pics DanProud of this one![]()

Thanks for the reminder. It's in a planter, too big to move, but I'll be sure to cover it tonight. Gotta set the faucets to dripping, too.I see predicted Texas weather is in the news.
