Reckon this one came with a spare?View attachment 1823161
At least on the French (much modified) Isetta Velam there's one, very practical for speed traps... 😂😂😂

Those sold in England had a single wheel at rear for tax reason.

In college I drove a ‘92 Jeep Cherokee. It had a full size spare (can’t remember if it came with one, or I might have picked one up somewhere), but the problem was the little bottle jack the Jeep came with.

I had a flat tire one night (after midnight), pulled over on the side of the highway, jacked it up, got the flat tire off, but didn’t have it high enough to get the spare tire on. Jacked it up more, as far as the little bottle jack would go, still not enough clearance for the fully inflated spare.

So I figured I’d lower it back down and see if I could find a better spot for the jack… except now that it was fully extended, it wouldn’t go back down. 😡

I tried everything I could think of before calling my dad, who had been asleep and lived about 45 minutes away. He came to the rescue with a floor jack, which lived in the back of that Jeep for the rest of the time I owned it.

When I was learning "car stuff", all the cars had bumper jacks. I still kind of prefer those to the little bottle jacks or scissors jacks my more recent (but still 2007 or older) vehicles have had, even though I've definitely had some dangerous close calls with bumper jacks on less-than-level ground.

I remember those jacks. Back in the day when the bumper was solid enough that it was possible to lift the car with it. Nowadays you would just tear off the bumper if you tried.

My old Checker has a bumper jack.

Good point, Frank. I've never really thought about reasons for the demise and disappearance of bumper jacks, but Frank is obviously right on the mark. When car makers, in the 1970s, had to start providing cars with "bumpers" that could withstand 5 mph impact, bumper jacks became obsolete.

A week ago we took a ride to the Corning Museum of Glass. It had been a few years since we'd been there. Well worth the trip.
Along the way I noticed a creek I hadn't seen before. I'm sure there are many Creeks named Fall Creek, but this one is not too far from me and looks like a nice creek to drop a fly on. I just renewed my $5.00 New York State old man fishing license.
I'll make sure I have my Northwoods Fall Creek with me when I do.
