I've tried them, but they only work if the humidity is low enough for good evaporative cooling. Otherwise, they just get warm from your body heat. I prefer just tying a wet bandana or hankerchief on my head.

Really? Oh, that's a shame :( I've been really impressed  I was quite surprised they weren't just a gimmick! :D

I have to agree! As a transplanted Marylander in the Texas summer oven, I've tried all the tricks. So far the best I've found is to adapt the clothing for hot sunny weather. Magellen is your friend. I wear Magellan fishing shirts a bit too big. Nice very light weight vented material that when wet, dries in a few minutes if you stand in the shade with only a bit of breeze. Magellan shorts, made of the same material as the shirts, helps. Again, a bit oversize for that slightly loose, baggy fit. Key is very light material that breaths well and dries fast. A nice straw hat with wide brim for sun shelter for your head is good. Keep the sun off you and you've won half the battle. If I use any water, its just to take the water bottle and dribble a bit down my back under the shirt. Breeze comes through the shirt and felt cool.

And find lots of good books to read at the library.

All great advice Carl :) And move slowly when you have to! :D

Start a chess.com account. My username is AnthonyKWillis. @David Mary and I play all the time (I usually lose).
I’ll see about it. Be nice to play chess once in a while instead of never. I used to play every day at work. I’d wrangle the other boys into it. I often won but they’d occasionally beat me too. I think because I played a lot of different folks I got decent. We had a few summer college kids working there every year, so they were always ready to flex their gray matter at lunch time.

I was paraphrasing Wikipedia with no knowledge of my own. What could be unveracious?
Tritium is also what they now use in luminous watch dials and such.
I‘ve one watch with Tritium treated dials which I got inthronisiert mi€ 90‘s. As far as I know it‘s no longer allowed (at least in Europe) because during maintenance people could get in direct contact-the only way it‘s considered unhealthy.

Considering that the most popular use was in mechanical watches which requires regular maintenance it seems to make sense.

Nowadays they use different materials to cover watch dials.

Another aspect is that the luminous effect deteriorates over time and now after 25+ years is barely visible. From my experience that doesn’t happen with the newer stuff- at least not that fast.

I’ve had this Luminox for, I think, just over 20 years. It has to be very dark, and your eyes have to be adjusted, to see the glow from the tritium any more.

Ive worked in the temperatures above 35deg c ..up to 43...and doing heavy work...200kg sheets of glass into lift wells...so not easy on a nice day...
Despite the call to keep hydrated..You need to keep electrolytes up...so go for gatorade drinks PLUS water....and some jelly babies....thats if working or exercising.
Beyond that...personally...into the esky for icy cold beer....Be Careful tho...or you might start saying things like.

I have a question for y'all. I just discovered that the background is alterable. We can choose white, grey or black. I've been using white the whole time. Got it on black at the moment. Just wondering what most of y'all use? 🤔
White, black or grey?
I was going to do a poll, but after 5 minutes of intense scrutiny, my mind wandered without figuring out how to do one

Although I had looked at the different styles, I just went with the white default. I think I'll try the Grey for awhile! :D

I've kept my background on grey since discovering the option.

I use white background and black letters whenever possible. White letters on black background seems almost unreadable to me.
When the first Macintosh came out in 1984, the black on white display sold me immediately after years of white (or green or yellow) on black with other terminals/computers.

Although I generally prefer “dark mode” for just about everything on my phone, for some reason I like to stick with the white background on BF.
