The main difference between 'old' and all the others is this:
If you remember being a kid and asking 'how old will I be in the year 2000?...and working it out to 30 something...and not being able to imagine being that old...then you are officially old.
When I was a kid I couldn't imagine the year 2000!

I've posted this before but it still seems appropriate:
“...inside every old person is a young person wondering what happened.”
― Terry Pratchett

That's a good one, and true! :D I remember, when I was a very small boy, asking my mother about cars, and she told me, "By the time you grow up, everyone will have their own helicopter." Guess I haven't grown up enough :D

I remember watching the Jetson's, a cartoon from the early 60s. We all figured when we grew up we'd be living like the Jetson's. Oh well..
Just like how we'd be working 3 or 4 days a week, due to all of the productivity enhancements. LOL! Yeah right! 😂

that reminds of the science fiction joke I heard once. People growing up in the 50s and 60s would have sci fi fantasy novels that would start with "It is the year 2006 and we are aboard our spaceship heading to Titan..." Ah they had such hope. Mean while in 2023, we are barely breaking orbit 😂

Absolutely Gary! 🤣 Here, we were told that when they discovered oil under the North Sea, we'd all be loaded  I remember asking my dad about retirement, and he said, "When you get to that age, people will be retiring at 50." They've just raised the state retirement age to 67 here, and it'll be 68 soon

That's happening everywhere, unfortunately.
I was lucky that I could retire at 61. I've never regretted it.
Yes, the French haven't taken it lying down! Good for you Gary, my dad retired at 60, as did my maternal grandfather, though that was because of ill health in the case of my grandfather. I more or less consider myself semi-retired now, at 62, but I won't get a pension until I'm 67 or 68
You're a lucky man!!! I didn't retire until I was 70!!
Wish I'd done it sooner!!
I see some older guys, and they are really struggling with the jobs they have to do, as I would with a physically demanding job :( Then you get Stan Shaw, still working in his 90's

Haven't had Spam lately. Except in texts and emails......
Now I've got a hankering to fry some up for breakfast.
A photo I took at Costco in 2019.

The problem with Spam in my house is I'm the only one who likes it, so I try to finish the can within a week of opening. Had Spam several days this week. Got one slice left. I usually fry in butter and eat with eggs, but had a wonderful Spam, lettuce, and tomato sandwich yesterday. Mustard, no mayo.

You could whittle your way out anyway :D

Aarghh wrong thread........how do you delete posts, always forget.

Never ate Spam as a kid. Father told my mother when they got married that he'd had enough canned meat during WWII to last him, and never to use any.
I tried some Spam later in life and determined that I had not missed much.
