"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Thanks for the well wishes! We're having a great time!
I thought my forum knife was going to arrive next Tuesday, but got a message that they attempted delivery today! They are holding my mail until Tuesday so hopefully it'll be there when I get home.
Meanwhile I had to scratch that knife itch, so I picked this up in Florence, in a shop near the Ponte Vecchio. I'm very happy with it!

Wow Gary it's great to see you travelling again ( more again in this fantastic country ) and so frustrating to know that you pass so close to France . We will have to go to the US 😂

No need to wish you a great trip, I'm sure it is .

Thanks Jean - Marc! We are having a wonderful time. We're in Rome for a few days now.
I think France is going to be 2025, after they reopen Notre Dame. I'll surely keep you informed! I hope you'll let me know if you make it to the USA. I'd be happy to try and meet.

Grazie mille, Charlie! It's a fine Zuava and will remind me of a great trip. I'm no world traveler, but Firenze is one of my favorite cities.
We've got family from California, Illinois, Minnesota and New York here. Some we haven't seen in awhile.

Sounds like it was a nice reunion, Gary!!
Ti auguro il meglio!!

I'm afraid you might have to change of horse again soon! 🤷‍♂️ Irish whiskey is steep! 🥃
Wales very strong too..Watch out for Fiji...England and of course The Boks....France with home ground advantage....watching replay v Italy now...France looking incredibly strong.
...some great rugby being played and its only going to get better when the Titans clash🤛👍👏
Looking forward to Scotland and Ireland tomorrow.
All Blacks will release the kraken.

We did not forget how we lost for 1 pt in 2011 !
Scots don't play as brilliantly as they used to since they incorporated the South Afrikaans, who look like Ken (of Barbie fame) and Buzz Lightyear and don't know nything else than rushing forward with that silly grin !
Blacks forgot rule n° 1 : humility. I'm afraid Irish are much tougher than they think.
Ireland could be the second blade (guess who was the first 😉).

Certainly not the same level, but I really enjoyed Chile and Portugal games.

I guess we are late to the party but COVID finally caught up to us. Both my wife and I have it. Definitely not a fun ride so far. I am looking forward to when it stops and I can get off.
Hope you feel better soon. My wife caught Covid for the first time after our 16 day trip to the UK and a Cruise around the isles last month. My son and I isolated her to one half of the house and fed her to keep her out of the kitchen and we didn't catch it. I just got my new version booster today, and expecting to feel like :poop: tomorrow.

My dad is 70 and had managed to keep away from Covid through the whole pandemic, but finally came down with it about a month ago. The newest strain seems to be a bit more mild than the early ones. He felt tired for a few days and had no appetite, lost smell and taste. But was back to normal in about 4 days.

Hoping you and your wife recover quickly and without any lasting effects.

John, hope and your wife recover quickly and completely.

We got home from Italy Monday morning at 1:00 am, feeling crappy and jet lagged. Tuesday I tested positive for Covid. Wednesday my wife did. First time for both of us. Our doctor felt we didn't need paxlovid, as we're both up to date on vaccinations, but we're watching our SpO2 and just waiting it out. It's like the worst head and chest cold I've ever had.
So, I got a new knife and covid. Just great!
