I like that, Jeff! A new mantra!
Covid be damned!
Covid be damned!
Covid be damned!
Covid be damned!

I feel renewed! :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
I hope you and yours get well soon.

I'm supposed to get a Covid booster and a flu shot late this afternoon. A year ago when I got that combo on the same day, I ended up feeling like I had the flu for about 18 hours. Previously, I had had almost no reaction to flu shots or Covid vaccines; maybe the combination is what got me. I hope tomorrow won't be a repeat.
While it's safe to get the vaccines together, I can't help thinking that it's better to not ask my immune system to multi-task. Probably silly on my part, but it's worked so far (knock wood) I got my updated covid booster yesterday, and intend to get the flu shot next week. I'm trying to time things for maximum protection when my 92 year old father & all my brothers come here for Germsgiving next month.

A reminder to anyone in the path of today's Annular Eclipse: Don't stare at the sun!
We should get 90 percent coverage here in Austin, and I have my eclipse glasses ready. I've never used viewing glasses before, just made a pinhole viewer, so it should be interesting.

The color of the sky round these parts is coal grey. (Natalie Merchant must have meant coal-ash grey? (or I misheard her (that never happens))).

I got my flu and RSV together, but not the covid, because my pharmers didn't have the covid yet. I'd rather not get two vaccines in one limb, though.

"Arise, Arjuna, with thy spirit prepared to [shop]!" Must dash.

In harmony with the the turning of the seasons and the bittersweet cycles of senescence and regeneration, today I performed the annual ceremonial Stowage of the Window Shakers:

How's everyone doing I think my few year sabbatical is over. I've been buying a few new knives lately but they've been modern folders which is a bit out of character for me. Anyway I'm hoping to start hanging around for awhile again. I see some old friends as well as some new folks. I will say that being away for a few years has been great for my wallet. 😆

Nobody's perfect! 😂.
Glad to see you back to stay and well! 👍

If it's okay I would like to thank my porch friends.
This is 1 place that puts a smile on my face. As some of you might have read previously my Step Dad was the 1 that gave me my first pocket knife & how to sharpen a knife, he's been there most of my life. lots of memories.
A few weeks ago he had a bad flu so they thought after lots of tests. He had partially collapsed lung collapsed lung and tumour in the other, lung cancer. it's come on quick, as years ago he was ill & kidney function was effected, so regular testing. Just over a week a go the oncologist advised that to big to operate & risky. Due to his kidneys chemo therapy is a no go. So he starts radiation treatment next week to shrink it enough to improve breathing quality. Looking at him you wouldn't think anything was wrong, maybe just a cold. He's keeping his humour when I asked if he needed anything, reply yeah got a new lung. Mum is probably more tired, as she organises everything as Pop is like most blokes & avoids it, Mum knows what she is doing, retired nurse.
Last Friday was my daughter's birthday so we went out for dinner. Pop & I had a couple of quiet beers, everyone calls him Pop ever since the 1st grankid came along. Even Mum calls out Pop if I need to speak to him 😅
So fingers crossed he is able to potter around his garden & fix things for a bit longer.
Thanks to you all as I find the porch a comforting place😄

Welcome back, Randy.
For the first time I have bought some modern knives myself (three so far this year).
