"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

We got home from Italy Monday morning at 1:00 am, feeling crappy and jet lagged. Tuesday I tested positive for Covid. Wednesday my wife did. First time for both of us. Our doctor felt we didn't need paxlovid, as we're both up to date on vaccinations, but we're watching our SpO2 and just waiting it out. It's like the worst head and chest cold I've ever had.
So, I got a new knife and covid. Just great!

May the joy of your new Zuava long outlast the discomfort of covid, Gary!!

I guess we are late to the party but COVID finally caught up to us. Both my wife and I have it. Definitely not a fun ride so far. I am looking forward to when it stops and I can get off.

I'm looking forward to putting the covid in the rear view mirror, Charlie. Not a whole lot of fun. The Zuava is in my pocket.
The new knife is great, at least.
Couldn't express it better, Jer!

Yes, The knife is a nice one, and a good momento of a great family trip.
Oh boy, I'm glad this hit me at home. I wouldn't want to be stuck overseas to isolate and recover. Thanks, James.

I appreciate the good wishes, Dan!
Wishing you a swift recovery, Gary.
(But what a trip!)
Thanks, Vince. Hopefully this covid passes quickly and completely. There's nothing like walking into a restaurant in Rome and Florence with a party of 14 family members. Many that hadn't seen each other in awhile. We had family from New York, California, Illinois, Florida and Minnesota. Talk about a good time!

John & Gary, I hope you and your spouses get healthy ASAP!:thumbsup:

Hope you feel better soon. My wife caught Covid for the first time after our 16 day trip to the UK and a Cruise around the isles last month. My son and I isolated her to one half of the house and fed her to keep her out of the kitchen and we didn't catch it. I just got my new version booster today, and expecting to feel like :poop: tomorrow.
I'm supposed to get a Covid booster and a flu shot late this afternoon. A year ago when I got that combo on the same day, I ended up feeling like I had the flu for about 18 hours. Previously, I had had almost no reaction to flu shots or Covid vaccines; maybe the combination is what got me. I hope tomorrow won't be a repeat.

Gary, look at the silver lining. Get it out of the way now and you'll have plenty of antibodies for the upcoming holiday season, so you'll be superman.

Thanks, Gary! We got our updated vaccination on 9/20. At that time our Dr. advised us to wait and get the flu shot after we got back, as he felt October was the right time to get the most benefit from it through the flu season. Hope you have an easier time with the combo this time.
