Campbellclanman Campbellclanman Dunc thats an amazing story and good to have a happy ending...but what sort of doctor ?? does that to a baby during birth...thats insane...
My Uncle James who died in his early 20s when I was very young..1967 I think...was severely handicapped. He was I'm told always sickly..but not mentally deficient....immediately after he was born they sought to circumcise him ( it was apparently the done thing back then...barbaric)..but because he was crying too much ( minutes old mind you) they Ethered him and he was never right after that ...couldn't coordinate physically...
I doubt that today poisoning new borns to make them be quiet is acceptable practice...
If he had been born today he may well have had a normal life ...I can remember him pulling young baby meakos hair...must have only been 3 at the time.
Cheers

Just had a 4.1 earthquake centered about ten miles south of where we live. The jolt lasted about 4-5 seconds. My wife hates it when I start screaming, “It’s the BIG ONE”. 😜
I'm living along a railway tunnel and each train passing (steam or diesel freight trains, it is derelict for years now) was felt in the house. In 2002 an earthquake shook Budapest (without damage). I did even not raise an eyebrow.... 🤷‍♂️

I'm crying now; and happy for Tay!! She has such a good Dad!!

I lost the use of my left arm from a stroke 4 years ago, but with some determination and good physio, it's 90%+!! Took a year; and I hope you have success with yours, Randy!!
I'm so glad for you Charlie and I hope Io be able to use mine again. I've been in a whellchair for a few years now and I do hope this physical therapy starts working because it's kinda hard to get much done when you are down to one arm. 🙂

I had just driven down to Pasadena, Jan 17, 1994!! At 4:30 a.m., a quake, 6.7 on the richter scale in nearby Northridge!! Buildings damaged, many deaths!! 20 billion damages, over 60 deaths!!
Many aftershocks!! My brothers house was like a milkshake inside; Everything all over the floor, people included!! Luckily, minimal structural damage, and we managed to clean it up!! Parts of the overhead Santa Monica freeway fell down!! Real disaster!!
Ironically, I drove 1300 miles to get there on time!! 🤣

Soldier on, Randy!! I'm praying for you. I just turned 79, and after my stroke and a hip replacement, my walking is getting better. I just put my cane aside in the last couple of days, and can walk (a bit awkwardly) to the bank 7 blocks away!! You are never too old to improve!!!

Charlie I remember that one! After seeing a guy pulled out of a collapsed building with nothing but his tighty whites on I started wearing a t-shirt and boxers to bed. Before then I slept in my birthday suit and the thought of being pulled out of my house on national TV was just too scary! 😜

I was living in San Dimas in 94. Farther away from the epicenter than Pasadena so we shook pretty good, but no damage. But I worked in Burbank which is just a couple of miles from Northridge. Didn't go to work for a couple of days after that.

The Richter scale is logarithmic. Each whole number is actually a factor of 10.
So a 6 is 1000 times stronger than a 3.
But no matter what the strength, when the terra is not firma, it'll get your heart pumping, no matter what it is on the scale.

In 1989 I rode the Loma Preata earthquake. It was as I recall about a 7.1. I worked in the East Bay and was racing home on my bike to catch the World Series game between the Giants and A’s. As I rounded the curve of the Emery mud flats the quake struck. Imagine doing 60MPH on a bowl of jello while it’s being violently shaken. At first I thought I had a flat front tire but when I rolled off the throttle and looked down at my front tire I saw the asphalt splitting open I knew right then it was an earthquake. I pulled over to the shoulder and got off my bike. The approach lanes to toll booths looked waves asphalt going up and down. When it was over I split the lanes up to the metering lights which were red. People i cars started say that the bridge had collapsed and thought no way! A few minutes later the Highway Patrol were leading cars back off the upper deck. The rest of the story is long but trust me it is not one that I’d willing repeat. 🤯

I remember that one Dan sf fanatic sf fanatic . Isn't that the one that pancaked the freeway in or near Oakland. Terrible.

First snow of the season. Oh yay!
