"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Bummer, Jack! Please let me know! Better yet, buy it! ;) :cool:
I can chip in a few bucks! LOL!
LOL! :D I'll keep you posted Gary :) I'll have to go over soon, the streets of York get absolutely rammed in the month or so before Christmas :eek: It's a well-known and popular pub, so I hope it doesn't end up being converted into apartments, and that whoever takes it over, treats the place with respect :) :thumbsup:

Back to the more important subject of beans, my breakfast today was foul (pronounced ~”fool”), AKA fèves AKA fava beans, mashed and added to sautéed onions, tomatoes, and jalapeños:

That looks a lot better than generic Cheerios with OJ and banana! :thumbsup::thumbsup:

First things first I am not asking where to buy GEC knives but I am asking what is going on with them. I've been completely out of the knife collecting game for a few years. I have been collecting guitars and have good grasp on that but I want get a handle as to what's going on with knives these days.ow and I'm aware of whats been going on in the knife world.
dW36r2T[1].jpgAs folks say without pictures it didn't happen so here's my guitar collection.

I was out feeding my feathered friends this morning, and happened upon a Woolly Bear Caterpillar. Now, Woolly Bear folklore tells us the following:
Woolly Bear Folklore:
According to folklore, the amount of black on the woolly bear in autumn varies proportionately with the severity of the coming winter in the locality where the caterpillar is found. The longer the woolly bear's black bands, the longer, colder, snowier, and more severe the winter will be. Similarly, the wider the middle brown band is associated with a milder upcoming winter. The position of the longest dark bands supposedly indicates which part of winter will be coldest or hardest. If the head end of the caterpillar is dark, the beginning of winter will be severe. If the tail end is dark, the end of winter will be cold. In addition, the woolly bear caterpillar has 13 segments to its body, which traditional forecasters say correspond to the 13 weeks of winter. (National Weather Service article)
I think the above information, and the fact that I've also paid my snowplow service for the season, indicates a mild winter for Central NY. Doesn't hurt my feelings much....

I saw one of those on the back of my house a while back. I couldn't remember whether they were poisonous or good luck or bad luck.
Looking back, I'm sure it was almost all brown. Especially since I have a full gas can.

.October 25 is the feast of St. Crispin.

The St. Crispin’s Day speech from Henry V

by Private: William Shakespeare

King Henry V: What’s he that wishes so?
My cousin Westmoreland? No, my fair cousin:
If we are mark’d to die, we are enow
To do our country loss; and if to live,
The fewer men, the greater share of honour.
God’s will! I pray thee, wish not one man more.
By Jove, I am not covetous for gold,
Nor care I who doth feed upon my cost;
It yearns me not if men my garments wear;
Such outward things dwell not in my desires:
But if it be a sin to covet honour,
I am the most offending soul alive.
No, faith, my coz, wish not a man from England:
God’s peace! I would not lose so great an honour
As one man more, methinks, would share from me
For the best hope I have. O, do not wish one more!
Rather proclaim it, Westmoreland, through my host,
That he which hath no stomach to this fight,
Let him depart; his passport shall be made
And crowns for convoy put into his purse:
We would not die in that man’s company
That fears his fellowship to die with us.
This day is called the feast of Crispian:
He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when the day is named,
And rouse him at the name of Crispian.
He that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say ‘To-morrow is Saint Crispian:’
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars.
And say ‘These wounds I had on Crispin’s day.’
Old men forget: yet all shall be forgot,
But he’ll remember with advantages
What feats he did that day: then shall our names.
Familiar in his mouth as household words
Harry the king, Bedford and Exeter,
Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester,
Be in their flowing cups freshly remember’d.
This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne’er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remember’d;
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne’er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin’s day.

From Henry V, Act IV, Scene III

I'm always happy to see the Bluetongue...a sign of Spring.
And my favourite bird of all The Laughing Kookaburra...
Kookaburras 🤬🤬🤬🤬 bloody messy eaters. They go through the garden & have decided to use the front bench as a dinner table. Every so often you hear, bang bang & see a couple standing there. Have to say pretty clever. I do like kookaburras but I have enough kids to clean up after🙄

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree
Merry merry king of the bush

Laugh Kookaburra
Laugh Kookaburra
Gay* your life must be!

*Thats gay in the olden days sense of the word.

Although personally I've always preferred the school version...

Fu%$ing every bird that he can see ee
No Kookaburra

That ones got VD.

But the primo version from 3 Summers is the new age PC femmy rad
Kookaburra sits in a glass display case
Habitat destroyed
