"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Sadly the recent downpours of much needed rain have left Grizwolds xmas display flat and bedraggled...I can wait and when he inflates I'll be there...and get the pic of the gaudy out of place spectacle...o yes....a d I hope they 'arrest ye merry gentleman' for creating a yuletide bushfire hazard...
Mind you the Illawarra Flame Trees are going off ...

My pics aren't loading.

“Never leave The Porch, never leave The Porch, never leave The Porch…”

I don't want to reopen anything, but I will simply say that this sort of issue is why I pretty much never leave the porch (and CPK) anymore. I don't want to deal with anyone else's politics, and I don't need anyone else to engage with mine. We're all here (I hope) to share our love of knives, and that is always easier if we can keep to that spirit. That's originally why I took my blog link out of my signature (these days I just never update the blog). It would be nice if everyone could honor their ancestors in ways that do not involve open and obvious provocation.

Like you said, "Never leave the Porch."

Cheers Mitch....the best part of driving a school bus on NSWs lowest quality roads in a torrential rainstorm is when some braindead clown in a semi dumptruck with a dog trailer decides he has to over take ....visibilty was bad and that f666king thing was flapping like a dunny door in gale....I hope his xmas turkey is flavourless and the stuffing is dry and salty.🤬👎

My son and Daughter in law got their barn decked out for the season. My DIL says their marriage survived another barn decorating project, and no one fell off the roof.

For a minute it looked like the right side of the barn was growing antlers...

Brother you absolutely hit the nail on the head I hate controversy but when you are on a forum as large as BF there will always be those that absolutely have to try to shame others and cause a controversy. Insstead of sticking to the purpose of this forum knives. Frank shared what the member had to say about his Avitar and it made sense. I want to say I'm in total agreement with you abbydaddy abbydaddy I try to just stay away from controversy as often as possible. I've only been back to BF for a short time and had someone try to be funny I guess but it was at my expense I had posted a picture of myself to show I'm in a wheelchair now and someone started making Santa Clause references because of my weight. I have been on daily steroids for years now and have gained 100 lbs. I can no longer walk and have lost the use of my left arm so exercise is out and I just live with the results I took the picture out of the post so there would be nothing to start something over. I realized the guy most likely just thinking he was being cool or funny or both and thats really pitiful.
We need to pay more attention to our own lives instead of trying to make other people to look small because you most likely do not have the whole story.

Possibly the most irrelevant and tasteless xmas deco ever conceived...imean seriously...WHY?

If someone comes up with a hair-brained idea and floats the cash to get it created, you can be sure a certain % of the population are going to buy it.

I used to work for a company that helped people get their "inventions" patented. I left there after 5 years with a very low opinion of the average human walking around on Earth.

Oh yeah...there was an inflatable santa outhouse at another house a couple of years back....It never stayed up properly....I think and this is only a theory mind you...that one of the elderly more straight laced neighbours shanked it.....And rightly so...it defies belief and even with my imagination I can only see small children being horrified by santa emerging from a stinking pan toilet after taking a huge crap....I would WANT to believe in him anymore either.A sad reflection of society at best.

Well I can’t speak for other people’s children, but if you turn up the volume on that video, you can hear Eleanor (2 or 3 at the time I think, I took that video a few years ago) giggle in the background when Santa pops his head out of the dunny. 😉😁

A very good rule to live by. Everyone has their problems and demons; some are readily apparent and some are well hidden. We rarely have the full story and shouldn’t be in a hurry to pass judgement. A little kindness can make a big difference to someone who is struggling.
