Hey Randy, hope you are doing better. I think the recent IRS change of reporting all sales via PP and other payment platforms over $600 total for the year by issuing a 1099-K created a lot of sales via F&F in the market. F&F is not reported while Goods and Services sales are.

Thankfully the IRS just recently delayed it yet again, with a $20,000 threshold for 2023 and a $5,000 for 2024. It would have been a paperwork nightmare for casual sellers of goods they owned for years with no original receipts to prove a loss. Plus you can't count a loss as a deduction on personal sales but have to count a gain...that's the IRS for you.

This reminds me of another member who has on their signature page , “Let’s go Brandon” which seems to be a political statement. But hey, I’m just another bozo on this bus. 🤷

I did, and I do.

Regardless of the justification, (which to me seems quite a stretch anyway), he certainly can’t be unaware of the association of that flag with modern racism and other hateful ideologies. That it doesn’t get even the slightest push-back here is alarming.

It may be that a certain demographic and political inclination is somewhat overrepresented on this site, but I like to be able to separate a fun hobby, and basically decent bunch of guys, from divisive politics and religion. I’d like to think there are others here feel the same and would like to keep it that way.

Do your job as a mod and ask him politely to choose a different avatar which is less likely to cause division and paint the whole website in a negative light.

Please folks, don’t “like”, “dislike”, or reply to this, to put yourselves on one side or the other of an issue which could cause rifts in the friendships you have forged here.

I have seen plenty of offensive avatars. And user names! You can always use the "ignore" function if there is stuff you don't want to see.

I'm too old for this "stuff"...

I prefer peace and harmony. I suspect most of you who frequent the porch do.

Although I'm not particularly happy with the whole confederate flag avatar thing, a decision was made by the staff, based on the members explanation, and also on the nature of his posts. It may need to be revisited, not my call.

I'd suggest we move on from it. There is also an ignore function, as Vince mentioned.
 
My son and Daughter in law got their barn decked out for the season. My DIL says their marriage survived another barn decorating project, and no one fell off the roof.

2 days ago was opening of deer season here in PA. My aunt and my cousin (her son) brought home 2 amazing bucks, a monster 13 point and a tall 8 point. Truly a memorable day for the 2 of them, and a once in a lifetime harvest for my aunt. (Not sure how bloody hunting pics are tolerated here on the porch, so I'm only posting the story for now.)
 
Just on the subject of freedom of speech...which I am a strong believer in....but also in the freedom to keep quiet for the greater good.
The barn looks suitably festive...not overdone like something thats popped up on my drive to work...
I'll get a pic of when xmas decoration goes ho ho horrible....just you wait...imo an over inflated grizwold nightmare...

Nicely done barn! It reminds me of the ditty, “Late last night we were all in bed Ol Lady Lenard lite a lantern in the shed cow kicked it over and this is what she said…there will be a hot time in the old town tonight” 😜
