That's very annoying, I hope your wife's symptoms are mild, and that you don't get it too my friend :)

Sorry to hear that, Gary. Hope you both fare well and recover quickly. My wife and I managed to dodge the COVID-19 bullet until last fall when we returned from Italy with it. It's unfortunately still out there.
...
We'll be raising smoke, for sure.
Jack & Gary & Frank, we appreciate the well-wishes. :)
Jack, I thought your "get well card" was hilarious, but I had to remind my wife of her visit to The Blue Bell; I think she's repressing the memories! 🤓:cool: After my reminder, she grinned and said, "Tell him thank you."

I woke up this morning feeling like a cold was coming on, but I'm afraid it's the start of my turn for COVID. But I've had all my vaccines and boosters, and the most prevalent of current variants is supposed to be relatively mild, so I'm hoping for smooth sailing. 🤞🤓

I hope you and your wife have a mild case that resolves completely and quickly, Gary.
Speaking for me I found a possible upside to my covid-19 experience. When I forget something my wife has mentioned or asked me to do I blame it on long COVID. I don't think she's buying it though!

I got my first case and only case of Covid in January, after one of my son's patients gave it to him. I still have long covid symptoms of fatigue and brain fog, and much worse fibromyalgia 😬 Not a happy camper. My activity has dropped by half from 6 months ago, causing me to gain 10 lbs. I sure hope they come up with a cure soon!

I'm sorry to hear that, Doc. My jest may have been in poor taste considering your situation. I hope you can get that behind you soon.

It's fine

yeah some of our clinic doctors are on round 3 or round 4 of covid. its difficult to say the exact impact it has on a person specifically until assessed. we're still collecting that information and working on an experimental drug trial. it may be years before we fully know the long term effects sadly. Some patients we have seen once and they checked out ok, some its been over two-three years and theyre still not back to normal.

I feel for you DocJekl DocJekl , I had Covid pretty bad in 2021, spent 3 weeks in the hospital and am told I was lucky to come back home. Most of the long-term effects have subsided, except for every now and then a heart arrhythmia. It doesn't occur frequently enough for doctors to consider it dangerous, or to want to do anything about it. It certainly is annoying to me when it occurs (and stressful). But unless it gets worse, or happens more often, I guess I count myself lucky if that is all I have to deal with. Quite a few others ended up in worse shape than me.

My doctor often says the long-term effects of Covid are a big mystery right now, and I'm part of the group they are watching to see what happens next.

yes, that is why the mantra in the clinic is, its not how you go into covid, its how you come out. Ive seen too many cases to discuss as we are a major institution. All of the big hospitals in the city have some sort of "post covid" research program, and some patients even spread their chips out and join a few. it gives us an idea since they tell us ours is the most comprehensive.

My wife and I both contracted Covid last October (5 vaccinations/boosters each!)!!
We've both had worse colds - we had 4 - 5 days of mild discomfort, and as far as we can tell, no lasting effects!! We've since had a 6th vaccination!
I wonder if it was a less virulent strain, but I am most definitely pro-vaccine, given the evidence!!

I've had covid a couple of times. Took Ivermectin the first time (Delta Covid one of the early harsh variants) and was fine. Took vitamine C, zinc, and quercitin the other time, and it was like having a cold for a week. (I can't take vaccines. My body has allergy issues.)

I'm in a little late on this but hope everyone currently experiencing Covid recovers fully and hope everyone has good health in the future. We had the first two shots and then the first booster. Past that we're a bit wary. Too much conflict between multiple factions.

I was fortunate to not have a severe case of Covid since my left lung is not functioning with total pulmonary vein obstruction.

I had 5 vaccines, starting January 2021, and the last one in late October 2023 (with flu and shingles shot #2), just 3 months before my son brought it home. The one I had in early July protected me from catching it on the Norwegian Cruise to the UK in September, when my wife caught her first and only case on the last day of the cruise.

I only had mild symptoms for a week, but never fully recovered.

yeah, i remember some truly bizarre interactions when the vaccines were first being rolled out. We had a handful of patients who developed severe asthma like reactions and after a course of prednisone were advised to avoid further vaccines and just be as careful as possible. Even in the clinic we are careful on advising patients on getting the vaccines. Although vaccines have been shown to lessen the severity of the covid virus, we are always careful on telling patients to go for the vaccines as soon as they come out. Some patients on the other hand, cant wait to go get the next one like an apple os update. Phone are ringing off the hook as soon as the word is out on the next available vaccine. Suppose them being from the polio generation might play a part in the eagerness.

I'm a believer in vaccines and part of that is, in fact, polio. I had friends in grade school who had one or both parents who wore leg braces because they had polio. The vaccine pretty much wiped it out. I've had 5 covid vaccines. After the last one, I got sick that night. Chills/fever. By the next morning it had passed. I've never had an adverse reaction to any vaccine prior to that. That said, I'll probably get the next one that comes out when I get a flu shot this fall. Covid just varies so much from person to person. One friend of mine died (he did have some other health issues that may have exacerbated things) and another 75 year old was asymptomatic and only knew he had covid because his spouse got sick and he got tested.

I'm fortunate that I've never had an adverse reaction to a vaccine. (besides a slightly sore arm a few times, but I don't count that because I'm tough ;)) My parents are in their 90s, and I want to visit during the holidays, so I'm resigned to getting a covid & flu shot every Fall.

I'll probably always wear a mask on airplanes too, because I don't want to be the one who brings a cold or flu to Thanksgiving, much less covid.

I do what I can, and that's all one can do.

When masks were compulsory here for a while....oooh noooh we are being controoled by a big farmer...🙄 One of the best things I saw was in the Narooma plaza carpark..a local elderly hillbilly had his blue mask on but was puffing away on a lungbuster through a hole he'd cunningly poked through the mask.🤣🤣😷😴
