"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Thank you very much, Jack. I felt it was the least I could do, given all she had done for me over the years. Up to the last, whenever she saw me looking at BladeForums she would tell me, "Go buy yourself another knife." She knew I really enjoyed my knives and just wanted me to be happy.
That is very touching my friend 🥺❤️

Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃

I normally go to Tennessee for Thanksgiving, but I've been sick with pneumonia so I cancelled. I planned to have Thanksgiving tacos (tacos are good for all occasions 🌮)
but Ralph's wife, Sue, just sent him up here with a couple of huge plates of food

Good friends rock 😃

Today's the first day of deer (rifle) season here in PA. For as long as anyone can remember, the first day has always, always been on the Monday after Thanksgiving. It was expected for kids to take off school, and people skip work to be in the woods. It was always a special day. An unofficial holiday here in PA. Then a couple years ago, some bean counter sitting in an office in Harrisburg decided to change it to Saturday. It just doesn't seem the same anymore.

And the type of knife I've been carrying in the woods for over fifty years.

It’s an unofficial holiday in parts of Maryland, too, to the point where it impacts construction schedules 🤣.

A blast from the blast.
Around 20 years ago, maybe more we bought the mother in law a half decent kitchen knife a messemeister. Well anyway the Mil gave it back to the wife as she doesn't use it(doesn't cooks much anymore )
The knife was blunt don't know she had been trying to sharpen it with😒 cleaned up and sharpened it was good to go. So the Mil could
Leave on the bench. I made a custom sheath for it, I was impressed with how it's held up. I tooled both sides. Felt good that something I made has lasted,😁

Exactly! Our company made it a permanent holiday for the business because 3/4 of the staff wouldn't show up anyways. Luckily it is still a holiday for us even with the opening day change, but I imagine that won't last too many more years.

Why didn't they just lay mines for the buggers ??🤣
A number of reasons Will.
1.they probably didnt have any.And too expensive.
2.Mines would blow up too much of the struggling wheat crop for 1 Emu.
3.Its waaay more fun to have your mate shoot at them with a Lewis gun resting on your shoulder next to your ear.🤔
