Getting a little  snow today . . . 11" and still coming down.

Thanks Jack... I fear - I know what you mean :D

I´m making firewood since I can run, my dad always used to take me to the woods and he learnt me to use the chainsaw safely as well as the axe and all the other tools.

However - this was the first lesson again, but it will get better each time... I love the smell of fresh cut coniferwood :)

Sounds like a good time Andi!
Many fond memories I have of splitting wood with my uncles at my Grandfathers house in New Hampshire.
Remember, wood warms you three times, when you cut it, when you split and stack it, and finally when you burn it;)
There is no more comforting thing than to hang out by a raging hot wood stove on a frosty winter night:)

With a hot, or cold, beverage of your choice. I like that, wood warms you three times.

Andi, nothing like a good fire in the woodstove. A raging blizzard, and a good fire in the wood stove, are the best things about winter. To me anyway.

We got some snow, my employer closed today. Great for me, I found out when I was ready to roll out the door. Reading texts from friends, some found out when they got to my building and were informed we were closed. It's a beautiful winter wonderland out there, but the road is clear. I plan on going to REI an hour down the road to cash in my rebate and coupon on some walking shoes.

Thanks for your nice replies, fellows :)

I just heated up the stove... not so much snow for today, but an icecold wind from northeastern direction that really makes you freeze to the bone. (In Bavaria we call it "Böhm" or "Russian Wind (Russen-Wind)".

Jeff - that looks bad. Especially on this time of the year... I don´t know if it´s usual that there is so much snow in Missouri...

Andi,

You can't go and get old. What does that mean for the rest of us?!

;)

... Wow.

We had a nice snow this morning, but ours was just "purty."

That's what my neighborhood looks like right now. There's a full pot of tea on the stove, a full bottle of whiskey in the cabinet, so let it snow!

Carl.

No new snow here in Syracuse, NY. Thanks to all you midwesterners and downeasters for taking it off our hands. ;)

On another subject; I just noticed this today.

You might be a knifenut if all you cut all your fingernails short, except for the one you use in the nail nicks.

Andi, snow like this is definitely not usual for Missouri. We ended up with 14" yesterday, and might get another 1-3" today.
The last time we had a snowfall like this one was almost 40 years ago, just a couple days before Thanksgiving (end of November).

Thanks for the information. I was just wondering, thinking about where Missouri actually is - geographically seen and was a little wondering.

We had the same this year like you in Missouri, but our winter was darkest for the last 40 years or so - and it´s still pretty dark :(

Thick with snow and very cold here too. This time last year I was walking about in a short-sleeved shirt!

What's all that white stuff in y'alls pictures? Speaking of cold, it's not going to get out of the low 60Fs (18C) today and it's supposed to get down to 32F (0C)tonight!!!!

I went out and about this afternoon, roads are fine. Snow/sleet/rain mix, nothing bad. A hot cup of tea, hamburgers on the grill for dinner

It was cold and wet this weekend, 25F here this morning. Fifties for a high today. Not windy though so not as cold as yesterday.

It will frost again tonight. BRrrrr!!!

I took the high road over the tops home last night, now that its finally been cleared.
There were 8 foot drifts.

I know, its a great hat. 100% Alpaca, fairtrade too, from a Peruvian Catholic mission.

Currently there's a total white out at work. I was gonna go straight to town to the post office after work, but I'd quite like to trek that way again this afternoon.

I was debating posting about this here, but I figured I would ask for your support for my baby sister. Last week, we learned that her friend was missing. She was later found, she had committed suicide. Needless to say, this was emotionally heart wrenching for my baby sister, and just a shock to everyone. My sister and her friends had the chance to get together over the weekend, and my mother took my sister to the little girl's viewing. I held my baby sister for a long time, and just let her cry. I will be 34, and have lost too many friends (one is too many as far as I'm concerned but unfortunately more have gone to their reward before their time). For a 15 year old girl? It makes my heart ache for her and her friends, as well as for the little girl's family. My sister is kind of numb to it, she is still functioning, but I would like to ask for your prayers, smoke and good thoughts for my little sister. Also, her friends, the little girl's family and the little girl herself. This girl was 16, and had her whole life ahead of her. It just boggles my mind, and I take solace in knowing that she is deep in God's embrace and her trials and tribulations are over.

Thank you.

Strange question I know, but do we have any dentists among our regular forum members? To be honest, I kind of doubt it, but if we do, I might have a present for them :)
