"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

I'm very sorry to feel the need to post this here, but I have been accused of being a '"forum bully" on Traditionals by another Bladeforums member: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1121557-Some-thoughts-on-Forum-Bullies Please don't comment here in The Lounge, but I think Traditionals regulars ought to be aware of this.

Frank and Gary, if you feel this post is inappropriate, please delete it.

The thread is closed. Let's not use the forum for the purpose of propagating arguments. Folks can and will make up their own minds and hopefully use the report button judiciously as needed.
(And this is in no way meant to admonish Jack for anyone who may be in doubt.)

What a (great) picture!

... How ever do you get all that snow out of their coats?! (I'm envisioning the dogs back on your couch, as you've pictured them elsewhere, heh.)

Congratulations!

Wanted to report back briefly, since so many of you shared your kind thoughts, and show a few images of Skyler having some fun catching and playing with a Kong toy earlier today.

She is quite the athlete and never ceases to amaze with her speed and agility.

She has a very strong prey drive and our evening walks are always an adventure when the rabbits and deer (and other critters) cross our paths.

Last night she stopped to try and locate an owl that was hooting in a tree just off our path.

While there are still a few rough edges I hope to smooth over time, I'm pretty well pleased overall.

Thanks for the update, Elliott. I'm glad to hear that things are going well. :)

Me, I'm teaching mine "See No Evil":

Skyler says thanks and that she'd be happy to share one of her Kongs with Lila anytime!

What a great pic E. She's got her toy, but her eye is definitely on you! What a beautiful dog, and still wishing the best for all concerned here:thumbup:

Beautiful little girl you've got there BC,

Looks like your boxer's fitting in just fine Elliot.

Congrats, Blade_Crazy. May she be a joy to you for a lifetime.

Those Woodpecker pictures posted recently made me go searching for this one. It was taken a few years ago in my backyard. The Blue Jay was loud but the stoic Woodpecker won the standoff with a single peck.

Great pic Gary. I was just looking through my woodpecker shots, but they're all taken at distances my simple digital camera struggles with :)

We're visited regularly by Pileated (my favorite) and a number of other species of woodpecker here on a regular basis. I never tire of watching and listening to their antics.

We only get the two here, so far as I know, and they're not that common; the Greater Spotted Woodpecker (Woody!) and the green ones.

You can see some of the species that visit our area on this site...

Thank you and thank you!

Looks like chasing that Kong finally wore Skyler out Elliott!

Hi Elliott - Those Kong toys are really great toys - heavy rubber and they last and last. Be aware that some of those round Kong balls come with slots cut into them and a dog can get their lower jaw stuck in them after the rubber softens up somewhat. Don't ask me how I know.

We have the very toy you showed Skyler playing with and our rescue dog Coco likes them very much. You might want to give some thought to one of those large (6") balls on a rope. Large dogs love them. They are called "Romp-N-Roll". Here's Coco with one of her "Romp-N-Roll" balls. It's a great toy because a dog can play with it by itself or play tug-of-war with you.

Anyway, I'm happy to hear that Skyler is doing well. She's a real beauty.
