Hey Fausto,did weather calmed there?

Quoting this from another thread, don't want to derail there :)
Yes, the weather here seems to have calmed down a bit. Unfortunately, it has left some deaths behind, including both parents of a University friend and colleague (who works as orthopedic in another hospital), who died in a car accident due to a bridge falling down. This island is blessed with a wonderful mild weather, yet sometimes these things can happen even here.

Fausto, I just found out about this and saw some BBC video reports. Glad that you are OK, and will keep you and yours in my thoughts. Stay safe my friend...it sounds like there is going to be some tough times recovering from this terrible weather event on your island...

Well put Duane

Sorry to hear of the losses, Fausto. Please stay safe and batten down the hatches. We'll be thinking of you and your countrymen.

Sorry to hear of the troubles over there, Fausto. It's a wonderful country with some of the friendliest people I've met anywhere. My condolences and best wishes for all.

My condolences as well, buddy. I hope that you and your family can stay safe, and I wish you and your countrymen good luck with the work that must follow.

Sorry to hear that Fausto. My condolences.

Prayers sent to you, your family and friends from the other side of the alps.

Thank you everybody.
Fortunately, in the part Sardinia where I live we just had alot of rain; instead, the Eastern part of the island was much more affected.
The truth is, such natural troubles are so rare here that we're not prepared for them when they come, and this time we paid a high price.
Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and support.
I'm fine and safe though :)

The two tools that are always in my wallet.

And always on my keychain.

Everyone needs useful tools on their key chain...

Ken, it's a little tritium filled key chain fob. I got a few of them some years back from a member overseas in return for a donation to his scout troop.

Of course having that small amount of radiation nestled alongside some (ahem) sensitive body parts may or may not prove to have been the brightest idea. :p

If it is tritium, it should release alpha-particles, which are readily absorbed even by several inches of air. The plastic surrounding the tritium, should shield practically all released alpha-particles. The only concern is to be sure that the tritium is properly sealed inside the plastic material.
I think you are safe for now. :D
