I thought you might like this Andi- he would have been about three weeks old.

The best Christmas present ever.

The joys of modern air travel in winter. Checked into the terminal this morning to find out RDU was on a total weather shutdown. Now we've got a couple of days to kill in Miami FL before hopefully getting back home. At least the pet sitter put out tons of extra food and water for my four cats. Hopefully the freezing rain that has trailed this storm will not be too bad. Hope all'a'y'all people in the path of this weather are safe and sound!

Thanks for the kind replies and nice words, fellows, I still have a couple of free days I saved from last years stock to spend with my wife and son at home. Until work begins again next wednesday. I really enjoy the time.

This image made me smile, meako.

Thanks for sharing this great pic - without a doubt it must have been the best christmas present ever :)

The best Christmas present ever.

Duane: I hope you´ll be home safely soon and the damage this freezing rain is bringing is not that bad. Prayers sent to the people in the areas.

Hi Andi, good to see lil'Max looking so well! How is mum recovering?

Duane, hope you and all those others affected by the inclement weather stay safe and well.

The wind here really picked up yesterday. Our site took a better of a battering, with some building, roller shutter and security fencing damage.

On a completely different note....my Leatherman Squirt is deaded....

....I made THE mistake.

But the person who borrowed it is actually not an ejit. He was only bleeding a radiator after the key had been misplaced, I've done the same task myself a few times with no ill effects to the P4.

We shall see if Leatherman (via Whitby & Co.) honor their warranty. If not, he has offer to sort me out for the replacement.

Hope you'll be OK Duane

Certainly been wet and windy here, plenty of firewood on the street today. Hope everyone affected is OK

Scruff, shame about your Squirt, glad it didn't happen in situation where you really needed it. That's definitely not right, bleeding a radiator is certainly not abuse. Hope you can get it replaced

It snowed.

When I went to bed, it was snowing. When I got up this morning about 6, it was still snowing. In disgust, I went back to bed. When I got up a few hours later, it had stopped snowing, but the cars were white humps in the landscape that looked like a scene from Doctor Zivago. Now I guess I'll go start shoveling out, while thinking about how bad I'd love to be in Key West with a nice cold rum runner in one hand and a hand rolled Dominican cigar in the other, while a pleasant tropical breeze rattles the palms over head.

DAY-UM!

We got a little over a foot. Cleared a path to the generator out back. Labs were upset that they couldn't find their toys under the snow. Taking a break and then going out front. Thankfully it's done snowing for awhile.

Can I come?! :)

Stay safe and warm Carl

Jack

Edit - You too Dan

Come on, Jack. If I could get otta here, I'd be heading south at a good rate of speed. But it's gonna take a bit to shovel out. Did I ever tell you guys how I hate the color white?
:D

I unburied the outside units/condensers of my furnace and my heap pump. Thought my son was in bed. He was out front shoveling the driveway.

Driveway done, cracking ciders. Carl, your general area got 19" according to the Baltimore stations. What did you get? Other than a jackknifed tractor trailer on the Capitol beltway.

Great for snowed in days like today or waiting at the car shop, DMV, etc. Just don't see many of these around anymore. See them in public MUCH less often than pocket knives.

Since this is about yo-yos it's being moved up to the lounge. I was a pretty fair yo-yoer myself!

It was freezing all month, and yesterday it gets up to 84 degrees Fahrenheit. So today I get a head cold :( I cant tell if I'm feverish, or chilled.

Oh well, I'll just stay in and watch the Olympics tonight.
Also, I couldn't help doing some online shopping, so I have an A.Wright Lambs Foot on its way. :)

This morning I started reading TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE. My son let me borrow his copy from his HS days. My oldest daughter warned me that while the book was good she didn't believe it lived up to the hype. I'm unaware of any hype as I am terribly out of touch with such things.

This evening I finished the book with tears in my eyes. It's an incredibly easy read for such an incredibly difficult subject. Thought provoking. If you haven't read it, you really should.
