You get about as much as Dr Marten Fausto! :)

I was off at Max´s greatgrandmother today and visiting the family. It was a great day with a lot of laugh and some good food :)

A pic I´ve take from my grandmother (age: 89 years) and Max (five weeks) :D

Andi, take it from a 5 time PaPa, the grandparents have it all their way! Nice photo memory.

Andi, that's a beautiful photo of Max and his Uroma.

I'm so pleased for you and all your family.

p.s. Jen says Max looks gorgeous :)

Thanks for the kind words, fellows - and Jen too. :)

It actually was a great day - my mum made traditional bavarian Schweinebraten with Knödel - there was some beer as well.

Uroma (great grandmother in german) is pretty amused with baby Max. She can´t hold him anymore due to athritis but she´s really happy seeing him. :)

I almost bought his first knife - a Victorinox Alox Pioneer in Black ~ a knife like Daddy´s :D ;)

...my mum made traditional bavarian Schweinebraten with Knödel

About once a month my wife breaks out the large cast iron skillet and makes schweinebraten. She uses pork tenderloins. One of my favorites. Her mom is German but my wife's schweinebraten is better than my mother's in-law. For the dumplings she has always used Knorr for the knoedel.

Great to hear :) Schweinebraten is a delicious meal, isn´t it?! I think the Schweinebraten your wife makes is pretty similar to the one we use to enjoy.

I love Schweinebraten with Knödel, Sauerkraut and raddish :D - In Bavaria Knödel are traditionally made of dried rolls that are cut into very small cubes, flavor and water with a shot milk. The can also be filled with bacon or sweet ingredients... they are even a seperate meal at some time.

^^ Foolishly I have been Googling images and recipes for this delicious looking roast.

I have given up pork for Lent :(

I just wanted to mention that for me, today is the best day of the year. The final day of the best sporting tournament on earth, three matchs, three results, one winner.

Much beer and whisky will be consumed today. The kilt will be worn with pride. The head will be thrown back as my national anthem is bellowed "OOOOH FLOWER OF SCOTLAAAAND, WHEN WILL WE SEEEEEE, YOUR LIKE AGAAAAAIN!....."

The RBS Six Nations Rugby finishes today, and by this evening I will be a Neanderthal. I do not intend to post again later tonight but if I do, I must apologise in advance for spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors which will undoubtedly emerge.

And so to all, I wish you Slànte mhath!

Hello everyone! I haven't been around in a while. Heck, most of you probably don't remember me that much. I've had a whole heck of a lot going on, namely the birth of our first child!

May I introduce Julia, our beautiful daughter. She officially joined our family February 25th at 9:01am. She weighed 8 lbs, 1 oz, and was 20.5" long. She and Momma are in great health, and I cannot believe she's almost three weeks old already!

Here she is sleeping on Dad last night.

Anyway, I apologize for my absence. I haven't been actively collecting any slipjoints for a while, but I did just email Sonneman to pick up one of those fancy Radio Jacks. I need to email Charlie and see about one of the new Harness Jacks, too. I always did enjoy carrying a knife or multi-tool with an awl onboard.

It's good to be back, now I have a LOT of catching up to do!
