"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

I'll be 35 this year. I only wish I had Carl's life. Am I an old soul or just impatiently lazy? God bless him and his time spent free in America doing his blessings.

Blimey! That's a lot! Thanks for all your hard work guys

Got one of my wisdom tooth removed (ripped) yesterday. Feels like my head is exploding today. It is so darn hot here - near 40° Celsius. I hope not get an infection here as this might be too bad. But it would not make me wonder if it did. This year is not my year, not at all.

Andi, I hope your tooth pain disappears soon, and that the weather will cool off soon, too. Even with all the advances in modern dentistry, I still don't find it to be "painless". Hang in there! (Maybe you can use your extracted wisdom tooth as part of a knife handle! :D That would be unique - mammoth Andi covers.)

I know the feeling Andi. Hope it gets better soon -now that the mischievious molar has gone.
GT -I hear ya mate -usually takes them longer to give me all the anaesthetics than to do the job.
I once had to get a root canal done again by a periodontist.
After he had bored out the old filling and discovered some horrid, smelly bacteria living at the bottom of my tooth in my jawbone somewhere he had to rasp out the nerve endings.
He asked the nurse for a 15mm file. That wasn't long enough so he asked for an 18mm file-to reach the bottom of the nerve ending you understand.
After a while he ummmed and aahhed and asked for a 21mm-she had to go to the cupboard and get one specially.
I knew it was not going well when he told me I had a deep root canal -Imagine if you will a F1 or Nascar mechanic telling you your car is pretty fast off the mark.
After a bit more rasping down there in the nerve ending it was decided to use a 24mm file. After much rummaging I could hear in the background she said they didn't have one.
OK have we got a 26mm? She procured a 26mm file and away he went again.
It was explained afterwards that most normal people have 15mm deep roots in their teeth. Mine was 26mm That's more than an inch deep into my jaw! And that's why they didn't have the correct implement.
Luckily the rep had left the really long ones anyway just in case.pheew.:D

Interesting story, Meako. I hope I'll be able to sleep tonight after hearing of your root canal experience!:(

Andi and Meako, I feel for ya, guys.

Andi, I had trouble with my wisdom teeth while in the army, and an army dentist pulled them all out. Young Lieutenant that was looking for some practice before he got out and hung up a shingle. I still remember him to this day! So far the good lord above has not granted me the prayer that I run into him on a dark and rainy night!

Meako, I've never gotten a root canal, but this past year I broke a tooth and had to have what was left extracts. They had to dig deep for those roots, but they gave me some good pills that sent me to never never land. I don't know what they were, but Ihad five minutes after taking ne until lights out for 5 hours of deep dreamless unconsciousness. Good stuff, I hope you and Andi have some of the good stuff. :thumb up:

"That which does not kill us, makes us stronger." Kelly Clarkson says so, and I believer her. :D

Well so much for San Francisco; my lovely lady Bree has fallen ill and we spent the night in the ER. Today is her birthday. The meds have helped some, but no one can tell us why she's having such bad abdominal pains, but it's nothing obvious.

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles, Joe. You too, Andi.

Hope everyone is on the mend real soon.

Frank and Cate you'll be happy to know Bree is back on her feet. She has an ulcer and the meds are working. I'm happy to be less stressed.

The best part is trying talk and respond to the dentist with a mouth ful fingers and tools:D
