"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

When I go to visit ADEE over in Huddersfield, after going round the market, we generally go for lunch in a very old-fashioned cafe. Tony, the owner, who runs it with his wife, has worked there since he was a boy, and its barely changed in that time. Despite being a very down to earth place, it's overall appearance apparently makes it a popular location for filming, and it has even featured in at least one pop video! Tony is behind the counter. I thought some of you folks might like a look

Quick work Jack .... A neat video .... would it benefit from showing a few more regulars I wonder ??

About time you showed up in here young man! ;) Not sure what you mean, this is the off-topic thread

Thanks, guys! It is kind of funny how things all of a sudden just mellow out. I feel like I've gained a lot of perspective on learning when to let things happen vs. when to make things happen, and how to tell when it's time for something to change.

On a lighter note, I spent the day with the family at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History today learning about animals and fossils and Egypt and stuff with the kids.

Glad you're back Blaine.
The first paragraph is more or less a description of my life vs work dilemma that has been going on for over a year. I decided on Monday to become medically retired from 30 years firefighting.
The second paragraph is what we should all be doing.
Cheers.

Thanks! So, what's next for you? Do you want to stay active in your local firefighter community somehow, like as a trainer or mentor? You must surely have a lot of knowledge that could help people and keep firefighters safe after being in it for so long.

That's a big move Meako, hope the retirement works out OK my friend  What adventures next eh? :)

First rate to see you contributing again Blaine.

Natural History museums are a particular favourite of mine too. I think a number of us here might qualify as active fossils mind:D:D:eek:

Regards, Will

Thanks, Will! I think you've had a name change while I've been gone...? Or maybe my brain is one of those fossils...

I haven't seen the scenic post from Smithhammer in a while. Anyone know if he is just out in the woods with his bow?

I tried to get a few amateur photos of the Lunar Eclipse tonight. Here's one that was taken at the maximum eclipse. It was a super clear night and I got this off my deck. Pretty cool. Good night folks.

Fantastic photo Gary, incredible. Thanks for sharing it with us

I didn't think of taking pictures, maybe because I was too busy playing with my various binoculars. The old Curt Gowdie Wide World of Sports extra wide-angle empires gave the clearest view.

Thanks for the great photo, Gary!:thumbup:
Much appreciated, since, after all the hype, I just saw clouds. :(
