Nice photo Gary.
I got up at 3 in the morning to watch the whole thing, luckily it was a really clear night which is pretty uncommon for this time of year.

Lucky dude! We had a cloudy morning here. No chance to see even anything. But what was visible was a totally brighter moon.

Thanks guys. We had clouds until just before the event started then it magically cleared up.

Despite spending most of yesterday listening to BBC radio, I knew absolutely nothing about the eclipse until today! :grumpy:

Last week's sky in the country place was incredibly clear, saw a wonderful panorama with the plough and Venus etc.

Read about the Super Blood Moon on Russia Today about a week ago:D

Last night / this morning in town but excited: awake till 2 a.m. (midnight GMT) clear sky, moon beautifully bright very promising! Snatched 3 hours very fitful sleep up again at 5 a.m. Rain and clouds !!! Nothing visible, furious:grumpy::grumpy::mad::barf: No more sleep, felt like an exhumed zombie at work today, gibbering and unfocused with a headache...

Ah well only another 30 year wait....:D

I had a hard night last night. Baby Max has a bad flue, about 40 - 41 ° of fever. So I had the chance to see the sky during night rather often. He used to sleep hardly and was a lot of crying. The most important thing: He is almost recovering and is on the road to health again. About three o'clock I got up and found a cloudy sky. Nothing to see. Neither stars nor moon.

But the great pics, shown in TV and internet somehow compensate for this. And Max' recovery is most important... :)

Glad to hear Max is feeling better, Andi. Prayers and best wishes winging their way to your family from here.

We missed the blood down these parts but the moon was huge. Awesome photo Gary.

I don't usually stay up or get out for these things, but I have seen Halley's comet, Apollo 13, and something that looked through a big telescope like a tiny distant snowball. I don't remember what that was.

I was out last night with a beer and a decent cigar watching it.

wonder if I will be around to see the next one.

Gary, great shot. The girls and I spent the evening in the back yard waiting for the clouds to break. They never did till it was over. Oh well, maybe we'll see it in 33 years :D

I bet the time spent with your daughters in the backyard wasn't wasted, Brett. I'm fairly certain I won't be seeing it in 33 years. :D

Great photo Gary! I sat out with my wife and daughter for about half an hour enjoy the view. None of my photos turned out as nice as yours, though. LOL

Thanks Rob. I'm sure the time spent with your wife and daughter made it worthwhile.
Regarding my picture; It was dumb luck, guaranteed. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile!

I was told it will occur on the Australian eastern seaboard in mere 18 years hence. My long term forecast is for overcast conditions that night:) book early to avoid disappointment and I'll throw on a bbq.

That sounds good.

I tried to get a few amateur photos of the Lunar Eclipse tonight. Here's one that was taken at the maximum eclipse. It was a super clear night and I got this off my deck. Pretty cool. Good night folks.
