"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

I like Monbazillac, but prefer Sauternes. Not that I drink many dessert wines these days. Monbazillac isn't that common here these days, but I saw a bottle the other day, so might swoop on it to go with Xmas pud! :D

:D
Your wallet will notice the difference! :D

Well friends, I was so rapt to receive a txt from good ol' Bob - hes back home - under very strict care as he cant have bugs or viruses - so that cancels pretty much all of us knife nuts out here in Traditionals for visits lol :D

I am sure we feel like this a lot with certain communication in the Traditionals - but man if I lived closer I would like to see a lot more of Bob - and this goes for a lot of the other great guys here on the Porch - so Bob your chair is waiting here Brother - get well - quick!

Hey guys, i've spent a little time reading some posts to see how everyones been doing...been gone at least a year, my life went to hell so its been hard to feel like socializing with people. Still in the northwest but almost ended up sleeping in the woods this winter, not a horrible thing but not optimal either. I hope you guys are keeping em sharp and oiled well.

Maybe this coming year i'll be able to buy a nice little slipjoint or traditional fixed, last knife I bought was quite a while ago lol. :)

Thank you for sharing that Duncan.

Bob, the 73 Proto found a new home. I don't know if you saw the end of the gaw, but you helped raise $1,500 dollars for St. Jude my friend. Thank you for that. Prayers still being said for you and yours.

Duncan, thanks for posting that. Yes, it's good to be home and back here among friends. I do still have a long tough road ahead, but just being home helps a lot. Until my white blood cell count comes up, I'm very susceptible to viruses of all sorts. I have to wear a mask all the time and limit visits from people. It's a very crucial time for my recovery and have to check in at the hospital a couple times per week.
I just wanted to thank everyone for the kind thoughts and support. I received many emails, texts, and calls. You're all so great. :D
Brett, glad I could help in a small way. I didn't see the GAW, but that's a great cause.

Glad to hear from ya, bud!:thumb up:

I hope you get through this critical time with no problems, and all will be well again in the not too distant future. Rest assured you have prayers for your well being.

Carl.

Bob, thanks for the good report, and we continue to pray for your complete recovery.

Gary, sitting in my ground blind yesterday deer hunting, a Cooper's Hawk dropped out of a tree about 150 yds. away across the field I was sitting over and glided directly at me 5 ft. off the ground, eye level. About 6 yds from me he soared up and landed in a tree branch about 20 ft. up almost right over me. It was pretty cool.

We piled up the deer this weekend, with five of us hunting, we shot two bucks and seven does. None of the meat will go to waste, as my friends and I used two of my custom hunters to skin and bone out all the meat.

Bob, I'm wishing you the best. Smoke and prayers sent your way.

Sounds like a good hunt, Jeff. You must have been concealed pretty well for that Hawk to not spot you.

I can still be pretty sly for an old, fat guy! ;) I had a couple does within 10-12 yards that didn't spot me either . . . looked right at me, but didn't spook.
