"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Jack, that flooding looks bad. I've been hearing about it on the news. Prayers sent for those effected by it. Glad you're safe and sound and not rafting down the river. Hope you're feeling better.
I had a bad day yesterday. Got very tired after Christmas day. Doing a little better today.

Thanks a lot Bob, only a little rain today, so hopefully it is going down. Sorry to hear you had a bad day yesterday my friend, I can imagine all the activity took a lot out of you. Glad you're doing a little better today my friend

Jack to bad you're sick. I told you not to pour that flooding water into your whisky. Always drink it DRY! :D (This reminds me of Skipton rugby field in 2012, where we expected to camp...)

Nothing too serious JP :) LOL! No, I very rarely water my whisky :D ;) This country gets wet my friend! I know just the place you mean, but the worst campsite I've used was at Seathwaite in the English Lake District six years back, 3 severe weather warnings in one week, and in the end the police more or less kicked us off the site! That was in the summer! :D

Say Jack, I have some plans for a boat you may find handy if it rains anymore there. You'll need a good supply of wood, for about 300 cubits by 50 cubits!
:D

I'm hoping I don't need to go that far Carl, but it's barely stopped raining since September! :D

no flooding here, and the predicted snowmageddon hasn't arrived yet, but -- my new nephew has, as of 40 minutes ago.
he may be the first of his family to be early for anything -- although, knowing his parents' track record, it may also be the last time he's early.... ;)

Well,

I was involved in some whittling today while sitting on my front steps and some visitors came by to see what I was doing. Very friendly girls I must say. Anyone ever have any close visits while playing with your knives?

Very cool stuff. I'm a hunter however I really do appreciate just watching them and interacting with them. Trophy hunters are the ones that grind my gears. I only hunt to put meat on the table for my family and nothing goes to waste. But those antler guys seem to waste a lot.

Be careful what you wish for! My plan for a 'lazy day' yesterday went differently to what I'd planned as I went down with some kind of weird virus, and slept through most of the past 36 hours! Still feeling groggy now. I woke to hear news that parts of Leeds are under water due to flooding, so it's as well I live on a hill. otherwise my bed might have floated off down the River Aire!

Congratulations on the new nephew!! I hope mother and child are both fine and healthy.

I hope we haven't lost any members in the recent weather south and west.

I have a cousin in York, but I think he's ok- a couple to a few blocks from the River Ouse, and next-door to the minster, which I should think would be on high ground.
