"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

I always enjoy GT's posts. He always puts a little extra into his responses to everyone's pics and makes it amusing. I hope he continues his style of posts.:cool::D

My resolution is to get well enough to attend GEC's Rendezvous '16. :D

Bob - Pam and I are looking forward to this my friend!:)

.......... That's some crazy California Buckeye Burl. Depending on the time of day and if I've imbibed the images seem to change. I have definitely seen an owl though!

Gary - Crazy is not the word, Stunning comes to mind! Beautiful Buckeye Burl and I have definitely seen the Owls on both sides! :D:thumbup:

The current idea is that everyone was skinny in the fifties because they were all bailing hay and carrying hods. They exercised their fat away. I speak with some authority because I did bail hay and carry hods. Not everybody was doing that. Yet everybody was skinny. Why?

We ate what tasted good to us. When it stopped tasting good to us, we stopped eating. It worked a treat. It still works a treat.

OK that made me laugh, in spite of the fact that we've got company invading my peace and quiet shortly!

Happy New Year Sarah!

Incredible burl. Great showpiece.

Regarding the multi-quotes, I always enjoy it when GT quotes and comments on one of my knife photos. He's one of the few who take the time to do that and it's a very nice feeling to see his replies. Please don't do anything to dampen his warmth and sincerity. He's one of the good ones.

Most foods on the interior aisles of grocery stores today weren't available in the '50s. If you limited yourself to mostly the foods against the exterior walls of most grocery stores today, you'll be eating like they did in the '50s.

This Christmas was a technology time for us. I bought my wife a new desktop, she bought me a new laptop and my two granddaughters that live with us both got new IPhone 6S Plus. Here's the problem I cannot find the software to load into the new computers that will enable me to download photos from my camera. I have photos I would like to put in some threads but that darned old age thing has caused me to have no clue where I put that software. On top of that somewhere yesterday while out and about I lost my mint 3 dot Case Barlow. (got to go on a hunt to replace that). I sure hope this isn't an indication of things to come in 2016. I guess I need to start writing down where I put things and duct tape my pocket I keep my knife in.

hope you find it soon bud! slipped out in the car perhaps?

Randy, did you try just connecting the camera? Most new operating systems automatically recognize the camera as removable hard drive.
Sorry about the loss of your Case. :(

Randy, you could just take out the memory card from the camera and fit it into an adaptor via one of the USB ports. Alternatively, you should be able to find the software online if you search on the make/model of the camera

Sorry to hear about your Case Barlow, I hope you can find it again

Thanks guys, I took the car apart and no luck. I'll find another one just a matter of searching. Besides I just got a Colonial Barlow back from Glennbad's magic workshop. This was the first "store bought" folding knife I ever owned that my grandfather gave me. He reworked it in Stag and I'll post before and after pictures as soon as I can.
Problem is I can't resize small enough to upload to IMGUR. I will search online it's a Cannon EOS T5 so should be able to find it.

I've used this site:http://www.picresize.com/ to edit pics in a pinch.

Randy- I recently got that same camera. My wife wanted a faster shutter speed than our old point-and-shoot had, to catch better photos of our son who is perpetually on the move. It's a good camera. Your new laptop should most likely have a built-in memory card reader slot. If you take the card out of the camera you can just stick it right in the laptop and the folder of pictures should pop up. As far as the files being too large, you can set the camera to take smaller pics to begin with, or edit them smaller with a simple paint or photo editing program- which your new laptop probably came with one already installed.
