"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Hey guys/gals.. if you can believe it this is my first time reading this thread.. been here about a year lol. Man what have I been missing? Makes me realize I have just been splashing around in the shallow end of the pool this whole time. This place is a amazing. : )

LOL! THat's funny Drew :D  Carl's Lounge is the HEART of the forum :)

I forget how long I was here before I posted in the Old Knives sticky! :o

Has anyone else had the thing happen where you try to upload a picture and Photobucket decides to upload the same picture anywhere between 10 and 25 times?

Yes, happened while uploading from my Ipad :grumpy:

I read yesterday that Photobucket is doing some sort of "maintenance" this week, so next week I expect these problems and issues will either be fixed or they will be much, much worse. :D P-bucket is the reason I finally installed an ad-blocker to my Firefox browser. This computer is old and slow, and just freezes up if three different ads are trying to flash at the same time. Not to mention the pop-ups.

I hope everyone who is expecting weather stays safe and warm.

It seems to only happen from my phone but I have one od photo that kept reloading itself dozens of times. Finally had to delete it from my phone and it stopped.

We are expecting 2 feet of snow the next couple of days.[emoji26]

Thanks guys, he's quite a handful at the minute. He's pushing his boundaries to see how far he can go with us, and when he gets told off his temper flares, he throws his arms and he loudly admonishes us in his wee nonesense language.

I hate to say this, but this fight doesn't get any easier, and at some point he's going to become aware of it.

ummm... that "minute" is likely to last some number of years. Just sayin'.

I usually tell new parents that the first 25 years are the hardest! ;)

Oh god, what have I gotten myself into?!

Just kidding, of course. I'm pretty excited. I mean, look… we already share the same interests! :D:D

woke up to about 6 inches of snow this morning and it's still snowing. The local news is forecasting 12 to 18+ inches before it stops.

Barrett, congrats on the coming addition!

Yes photobucket has been doing all sorts of whacky stuff like that to me also. For a while I found that if you uploaded from the Home screen instead of your Library album it wouldn't do that...but that only worked for so long.

I also saw that the app hasn't been updated in about 9 months and there's a lot that the company needs to address with it and with the website overall. If it's worked fine for the many years that I've used it, they should be able to iron things out.

I'm scared of one thing though. If they're going to brand this as a new, updated and reworked version of photobucket, that can just lead to more issues since they change things that aren't broken while trying to fix the things that are.

Adding that anyone getting hit by the storm...stay indoors! While you're indoors, I'll be ice fishing!!!

Thoughts and prayers with you Bob!

I've been away from the forum an awful lot recently but the lounge is always my first stop to see what's happening. :)

Has anyone else had the thing happen where you try to upload a picture and Photobucket decides to upload the same picture anywhere between 10 and 25 times? Happened to me yesterday, but the worst was when I tried uploading maybe 10 pictures to post a listing on the exchange and ended up with literally hundreds of duplicate pictures on Photobucket.

Yes I certainly have. It's a right royal pain in the bum.

It is by far the best thing you will ever do. I'll echo Jack and say CONGRATULATIONS! Every single day is brighter with a child in the house :)

I'm sorry to hear that Bob has returned to hospital, 'keep up the good fight Bob!'

Paul

Still sending prayers for Bob and his family. Saddened that he's back in the hospital.

Barrett, huge congratulations. Is this your first? The first time I saw my first child I realized how hollow my life had been to that point. It's an indescribable feeling. The struggle doesn't start for a while. Like, maybe a week after they're born. :D

I hate to say it, but Photobucket has been working fine for me. I get the banner saying that there's going to be problems, but then it works flawlessly. :o

One trick I use with Photobucket is to find the picture I want, copy the address, then close that tab. Then I can go on unimpeded as I post that pic on BF. If I want another pic, I can open a new tab and open photobucket without logging in. This makes PB a workable option.

Those frickin' video ads they run really eat up band width. It does help that I only post from a desktop system. You phone posters might be Sure Out of Luck.

Frank, I use an ad blocker extension with Google Chrome on a laptop or desktop. It doesn't block all of the ads on Photobucket (there are SO MANY!) but it makes the site much more manageable.

Unfortunately I live on a remote Scottish island in a small village with broadband speed which varies between 0.3Mb and 1Mb

The island is slowly installing *ahem* super fast broadband which should reach my village in about 2017 (this is the British Telecom Openreach estimation so it'll probably be about 2020).

Sigh.
