"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

:thumbdn: :thumbdn: :( Heard a very sad news today, the passing of Michel prevost, one of the best cutlers, aged68. He was living in north Burgundy and his work always proved his great skills and imagination. He was a great artist.
Here some pictures taken at random from his site, well worth a visit while it lasts.

Today I turn 19 and all I can think of his I am the richest man in the world with my family and girlfriend doing things for me

Tyler

Tyler, I wish you a happy birthday, and a congratulations on the most important discovery. There's lots of people who can't write a check for 500 dollars, but are very rich because of family. By that same token, there's lots of millionaire that are dirt poor because of the lack of what you have. Family.

Happy birthday!!!!!

Happy Birthday, Tyler! I agree with Carl, the love of family and friends can make a poor man rich beyond a rich man's dreams.

Thank you Frank.
I vote we all wear giant sporrans made of stuffed beavers-
I envisage entire knife collections being stored in there.:D

Meako, your comment reminded me of a picture I have of my dad from several years ago at one of many Scottish festivals we used to attend. He had just gotten a sporran made from a badger pelt and was very proud of it. Before long he had gotten so many inquiries on it, if someone didn't ask (particularly ladies) he'd ask if they wanted to pet his badger. He was incorrigible.

That is a braw sporran (Ithink thats a compliment).Bit hard to get hold of badgers out here but plenty of foxes.
I daw a mighty looking fox hat with the head and tail recently. My son wanted to buy it but it was way too exy.
He settled on a fox pelt which the guy kindly discounted heavily for us.Upon examination he said oh dad whats this little hole? Errr thats a good shot probably a 22.
Any way Im teminded of the the time Prince Charles visted the small English village of Sheffield wearing a large hat made of a fox.People were wondering so the Mayor asked him.Your majesty we are wondering about that magnificent royal hat. What pray tell is it in honour of?
It was mummys idea said the Prince. At breakfast this morning I told her I was going to Sheffield and she said.....wear the fox hat.
But seriously the Wombat is a large marsupial herbivore.
An animal to be admired simply because it eats roots and leaves.:D

Oh, man, meako, that was a real groaner. I love it. ;)

And, happy birthday Tyler! I hope you had a wonderful day that marks the beginning of your best year yet.

Keep dry, Andi.
Sorry about Michel Prevost, and convinced by his fine work that I must embrace my own rusticity. How's the water level in Paris?

Just a trial to see how dysfunctional BF is this morning. I'm having difficulty posting anything, and if individuals do succeed in posting, it looks like threads are not updating to reflect those new posts. Frustration Friday is a day early this week!

Meako I see I'm not the only one that carries meters, test strips, insulin pens and knives.

As a diabetic with hypertension and on a regular aspirin per day, I sometimes think about all these knives and my thin blood. I'm not on Heparin, but darn near close if one of these slipjoints snaps closed on me.

not feeling so great today, woke up with a headache, then massive diarrhea from breakfast. lasted for the first hour of work. thank god i was done with that patient.

One day I'm going to convince the internet that the paradigm "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" is valid in all walks of life.
