"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

I found a DVD today of a show my band did 11 years ago and sitting here watching it and playing with some knives I've bought recently. And even though retirement most of the time means you've gotten old the free time to do what you want sure is nice. I'm going to try to take some of these tunes off of this DVD to make some 1 song videos. If I can accomplish this I would like to post a couple of them here if that's not too far off topic. If not okay let me know before I get myself in trouble.:D

Sounds OK to me.

Howdy, I've been busy lately and now have some down time, with an interview Friday I'm sure of at a furniture maker's shop.

Bikes have been a pain as well, among other things.

But I'm still doing fine nothing tragic, save for the discovery that an old road bike tire FLATTENED the edge of my opinel when I tried to cut it into strips for use elsewhere. BEWARE BIKE TIRES.

Peace to all,

Connor

Kevlar? That's some robust material!!

Has anyone seen or heard from Pipeman (Robin)???

He has been incommunicado for quite a while now!!!

Charlie Sir, I have good news, I just spoke to Robin - I fluked a chance call and caught him while he was at home :-)

Now Robin my friend - if you are reading this in the near future - as I explained, Charlie, Lyle, Paul and myself have often talked about you - and during my trip over to see them we of course discussed you  :)

Robin's internet died big time-and that in conjunction with his being away - man!!! we were worried, but it was great to hear Robins Voice!

Talk soon Robin!
All the best everyone.

Thanks for the update Duncan  Hope to see you back soon Robin

Yournext mission should you choose to except it...
Operation where is Fes.
I emailed him ages ago but he seems to have bailed out.
I hope all is well.
And glad to hear pipemans pipe is still piping.

Howdy Meako, Mission accepted, this one will mean going in deep and may take some time. Speak of Fes often and think of him more.

I hereby designate you codename :The Aconda.
(not just an aconda but The Aconda)

I was reminded of Peter Sellers in What's New Pussycat, where he says "don't you dare call me that again until I've looked it up!"
On a second reading, I get it. After trying to look it up.

I have a $10 Mora that is one of the best food prep knives I have ever owned. We had some left over chicken breast I had grilled and with the help of my Mora turned them into a great chicken salad sandwich. This little Mora is simply outstanding.

I received the Windows Monitoring scam telephone call. The one where they talk you into giving them control of your PC after which they hold it for ransom.

My one word response to the caller was "SCAM" which the caller followed with a heavily accented screaming stream of obscenities a drunken Sailor couldn't help but be awed and inspired by. Something tells me the caller was getting rejected call after call after call.

LOL!

Randy, I just picked up an Old Hickory paring knife that has become the garden and lawn knife, but I was toying with the idea of making it a scandi grind and using it in the kitchen, for $10 I could go buy a second.

Randy, that is a perfect shinning example of how you don't need an expensive knife to get great cutting performance. The Mora, the Opinel, the Douk-Douk, and a host of others all are fantastic knives. It's only us slightly crazy and obsessed knife nuts who thing you need a hundred dollar knife to get great performance. One of my very favorite kitchen knives is the 7 dollar Victorinox paring knife that comes with the plastic blade sheath. That little thing slices through anything. In the years that I've used it, I think I may have sharpened up the serrations twice with a little rat tailed diamond Eze-Lap hone that looks like a short pen.

There was Windows 8, but apparently Microsoft didn't find it invasive enough so they bumped it to Windows 10.
