"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

I wasn't able to get on the forum at all this morning, I think they have been changing servers, so you might have caught the tail-end of that Randy?

I click on exchange and it says page cannot be displayed. I have a few I want to list for sale today maybe I need to reboot.

Thank you everyone. He had several years in that ten when it was in remission. Then it came back.

I will contact Jake and confirm that he's okay. I don't want to share everything without his approval, last time I FB msg him he was okay.

I know we have members over in the Louisiana area, and I now Woodrow is in Baton Rouge, so I'm hoping they are okay.

Woodrow, let us know how you're doing!

I'm okay. Got about 4 inches in the house.... Shop got about a foot. No knives were lost. Just cleaning up now.

Please send prayers and smoke for the folks around here. Lots got it pretty bad. 90% of the homes in Livingston Parish are damaged.... 20 parishes have been affected. We got 30+ inches of rain in 3 days. Water just had nowhere to go.

MySpace little brother lost our dad's truck in the flood...... last pic we saw, all you could see was the roof.

Feel free to. Nothing to hide in my feed! The details are interesting..... I'll stop by with some this evening.

I've seen some heartbreaking video on the news. I've also seen some funny videos, like a tractor trailer making a delivery through five foot deep water. Then you see a video of first responders in a skiff or large jon boat, looking for survivors, moving between roofs. I read an article collected in a book about the Chesapeake and it's tributaries, about someone canoeing along the Susquehanna after a particularly bad storm, that pushed the river over it's banks etc. This person said that he was canoeing over flooded houses. No one could get into or out of the area, and he just finished his trip, from New York to the Conowingo Dam. Flooding can hit anywhere, but my buddy who's family is from Jake's area and further south, it is a horrible way of life. I don't know, we had horrible flooding in a suburb of Baltimore, Ellicott City. I drove there one day on the way to meet Carl before he left for Texas. Beautiful area, looked like a European city.

Never managed to log on last night because of the server change.
Dan, my condolences.
Jake, Smoke raised.

Well I got on the exchange finally with full intent to list 5 knives to sell. Instead I bought a Sebenza. It was a really good price but what in the world am I going to do with a big ole honking folder.

Oh, I'm sure you'll think of something. Besides, whoever heard of a knife knut who needed a reason for a new knife. ANY new knife.

heart wants what the heart wants Randy

Truth is, there really is a lot to love about South Louisiana. I have a few friends from the upper Midwest who love it here and never plan to move. There is also a good bit of industry and good paying jobs. I like a good bit here. I may move someday if the right opportunity shows up..... I'd like to try living in the Rockies or Alaska..... Wife won't go to Alaska though.

Anyway my Black Farmer and Pocketworn Red Peanut have been dutifully helping me with the clean up. During the downpour prior to deciding to evacuate, I spent the day with a Norton IB6 and strop tuning those knives up..... As well as the kitchen knives. The two have been slicing through every task easily. I about can't stand for a knife to be dull.

Lol. Yeah. I've been busy since the beginning of the year. Working way too much. I was looking forward to a slow down, but now that ain't happening!
