"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Chris,

That is very sad and also very uplifting. You are doing a wonderful thing for that dog. I can see that many of us here are on the same page with regards to dogs. One day my wife was looking through the local humane society website and came across a senior sheltie. She was 12 years old. Her owner was a senior citizen that had passed away. The poor dog sat next to her deceased owner for 3 days before being found. Due to her age, she was schedule to be put down. WELL. My wife took a day off work and drove 300 miles to go get this dog and bring her home. She spend her last days surrounded by love and caring. She lived to be 13 and a half.

20 feet out of my back door. I don't even need to get out of my recliner. Just raise the window a bit. Three more weeks of fattening these fellas up and the feast will be ready. :D

 wild turkey, just like the bird on the bottle

Great story Chris and netguy1999, dogs are great friends.

Bob, I hear you about the crap, we have Canadian geese that are here year round. They crap all over the park, roadways, walking trails, etc. It is pretty cool when the eggs hatch in spring and the little ones are running around following their parents.

I've actually never seen a wild turkey. Only pictures. Other than that, the only turkey's a see are in the grocery store :)

I thought some of you may find this small exhibit at the Exploratorium to be interesting.

The pictures I took through the plexiglass don't do it justice. The patterns were striking in person.

So just out of curiosity, when does talk of the 2017 forum knife begin? I'd definitely like to take part this year. :)

IF there is a 2017 knife, the discussion will be held in 2017.

My sister inlaw in UK fostered several rescued Great Danes. They had one called Milly which looked like a giant dalmatian. She was big even for a dane. She had been used as a stud bitch and given 7 or 8 litters then simply dumped on the motorway somewhere.Found half starving she was brought back to health by the in laws and lived to the very ripe old great dane age of 16.A beautiful dog.

That's very old for a Great Dane. She must have been very well cared for by your sister-in-law.

that is terrible that some puppy mill would do that, but good on your inlaws for sheltering her!

I get them here all the time. They're more of a nuisance than anything else. They crap everywhere. :grumpy:

The raccoons and deer her are horrible for that. We have an apple orchard, blueberry patches, and chestnut trees, so the deer and raccoons are around here 365 days a year it seems. I trap as many coons as possible, but it doesn't help. I tell every neighbor, relative, and friend to come hunt the deer, but there are still many left after hunting season is over. I need to invest in a pack of wolves perhaps.
