"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

We normally don't do the Halloween candy hand-out thing. Not many kids in my neighborhood. This year I happened to ask my wife over the weekend if she wanted to do anything for Halloween and she said no. Apparently she interpreted that as ME wanting to do something so she bought a huge amount of candy to give out, to my surprise.

We didn't have a pumpkin or any other decorations but did leave the porch and carport lights on somewhat invitingly. Not a single knock. So we're taking all of the candy to our respective jobs to benefit the co-workers.

I live out in the sticks, if anyone comes to my door in a costume, it's an adult that got into a little shine or meth and saw the Purge too many times. I did hear of some people handing out tooth brushes etc, when I was a kid, my friends would roll their houses. I went on a few trick or treat runs with them in their developments, but rolling a house in my neighborhood? No way. There are still some old family feuds going on in the general area. I think it's more not sitting next to that family at church, they are pretty civilized about it.

like hatfields and mccoys?

We generally have a good time on Halloween. We sit on our double rocker, sip on a cold beverage, hand out candy, enjoy the kids and their costumes. This year the wife made a big pot of Red Beans and Rice, neighbors came over, we ate, had beer, passed out candy. Even with our flooded houses, we still had about 30 trick or treaters.

My wife is having her aorta replaced tomorrow morning so I won't be on here for.a few days. I promised packages to some of you and have not got those out yet. I apologize but I have been slammed with everything that is going on. I will get them out asap.

You and your family are in my thoughts, Randy. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Hang in there, Randy; a lot of medical challenges coming your way lately! :(
But you can see you've got a lot of us folks on The Porch pulling for and praying for you, your wife, your granddaughter, the rest of the family, and all of the members of the medical teams taking care of all you all.:thumbup:

Continued prayers Randy, all the best for both of you.

On a lighter note, my younger daughter came up with a cute costume for grandchild #4, Caleb Joshua. He went as R2D2.
