"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Gotta admit, a few tears in happiness and gratefulness shed over the news. Still not going for the Pats though:D:D

I'm with Brett 100%, on BOTH of his sentences!:thumbup::D

Really heartwarming news. I have not had the privilege of knowing Bob, except through a few exchanges here. Those brief conversations were meaningful. But, from the outpouring of genuine concern and emotion on this forum, I can tell he must be a very special man. Go Bob!

Absolutely elated and of the same sentiments of Brett and GT! Good on you, Bob! You are Herculean, my friend!

I've been off the forum all day, and was hesitant to check, but this is fantastic news!!! This has made my day! Go Bob!

Been on the road for two days coming back from a visits to Maryland, so I was out of touch for a bit. Hearing the good news when I go theme and plugged in my 'outer was a balm for the road fatigue!

Keep going Bob!!! All your forum family are pulling for you!:thumbup::thumbup:

Just talked to Bob he sounds tired but said he is felling a little better. He said they had removed several tumors and that part was successful. He wanted me to thank all of you for the prayers friendship. Bob must be a tough old bird because he has been through a lot but has kept a great attitude through it all.

Finally hooked up the stereo system I saved forever to buy in High School back in the 70s from an older brother who worked at Modern Music in Memphis. Mitsubishi and Sony power and Avid speakers. Technics turntable still boxed up in a closet as I still need to find a quality cartridge/stylus for it. Newer Pioneer CD player in use instead. Wish I had saved and waited a bit more and bought Yamaha power and a Yamaha receiver. Neither McIntosh nor Bang & Olufsen were in my affordability range back then. I rightly listened to my brother and didn't scrimp on speakers, the most important component of a sound system.

Listening to Jim Croce as I type this. Jean -Luc Ponty, Simon & Garfunkel, Steely Dan, Johnny Cash, Eagles, loaded too. Man, oh man, I forgot just how good those speakers sound. Amazing considering how many times those speakers travelled in the baggage hold in the bottom of a Trailways bus ~35+ years ago. Life is good!

Thanks for the update.

Life is better in the vinyl room.
I trawl the op shops(charity shops) for old vinyl albums and 45s.
Usually come back with a swag of bargains at around 50c a piece.
Usually theres a lot of potential frisbees to flick through before one comes upon an elusive AC DC or Pink Floyd.
I like the cover art and often buy them just for the cover even if the disc has had it.
Lately my taste has been leaning strangely towards very old music- Jacobean and Elizabethan music of the 16th century.
English polyphonic church music, Brahms, Kings of the twelve string, and (British friends take note) Not the Nine o clock News album.
Interestingly apart from classical music there is A LOT of second hand Polka music, British Military bands, Bagpipes and drum. and C&W (Aussies love both kinds).
I could probably build a house out of records if I bought every "famous tenors" album I see.:D

Awesome! Thanks Randy :applouse:

I had just pm'd him a couple days ago to wish prayers not realizing he was under care. When he didn't respond, I began to worry.

Feel like a giant weight has been lifted, thank you to all who are providing updates about our friend Bob. :thumbup:A truly amazing man

It feels so great to be able to come on here and thank each and every one of my friends for all the support and well wishes. It really helps more than you might know. I know my daughter kept in touch with a few of you and I thanked her immensely for that. I'm still recuperating from the surgery and still very weak and tired, but things are improving a great deal. I know several of you sent me Pm's and I will eventually get to responding to all of them, but a little at a time for right now. Plus I hate using the iPad for typing on. So mostly I thank you all and hope to pick up where I left off here in due time. :D
Much love my friends.
