The sad part is, there's a package siting at home waiting for me from a trade I made with Crazy Canuck.![]()
Thanks guy's I'm much better today I've been outside enjoying a beautiful day. 61 and sunny with no clouds in the sky.
And even more good news. My doctor was just in to see me and says I might be able to go home tomorrow or Saturday.![]()

Looks like I'm going to have to get my leatherwork box down of the shelf and start contemplating my next move .
Ken
Thanks Ken.
Looks like possibly tomorrow for the trip home now. Have to wait on blood test results. I'll have a visiting nurse at home for a while to monitor everything, change dressings, etc. Hopefully they don't pick Kathy Bates (from the movie Misery) again this time.

Dropped in an antique shop earlier this week during the lunch hour. I went in looking for the usual sharp stuff, but didn't see anything good. I found this in the back corner of the store though.

It's a cast iron skillet, specifically a Griswold No. 8. I have a couple of contemporary Lodge pieces, but this is my first antique. I've long wanted to try out an older skillet, but have never been able to find any locally until now. I paid more than I hoped to, but nothing unreasonable. The condition seems very good. The bottom is nice and flat, and there were only a few spots of rust. The shop owner and his loafer buddies shared the opinion that this skillet was never used. As I'm not old enough to remember Griswolds being sold in stores, I couldn't argue. The metal has a dull gray appearance unlike the black seen on a new Lodge. And there doesn't seem to be any old gunk to remove. I'm still going to pop it into the oven for a self-cleaning cycle. I'll follow that up with a good oiling and then back into the oven for a few hours of seasoning. Can't wait to start using it tomorrow to fry up a few rashers of bacon.
