"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

:p (Obviously I can never let her see this thread. ;))

Don't worry about it my brother, I will just tell her she is a saint next time I see her. :p:cool::D

Hi,

A Happy 10th from me too! It's a milestone to be enjoyed. It's been 23 years here also.

She keeps telling me the only reason she stays with me, is because she's not leaving until she gets even with me. And she's not about to let me off easy!:D

Thank you, sir. I've found the key to a happy marriage was finding a woman who would put up with my s**t. :D

I think that's how most long lasting marriages do so. I know the above is what worked for me (15 yrs in Sept).

Congrats on the 10 yrs, too. Sounds like you have a great evening planned. The love of your life, steak, a nice walk, & possibly a cigar with a glass or 2 of spirits. Doesn't sound like it gets much better than that.

Hey, hey, hey!!!...Remember where you are!!! :p

I think the inclusion of a new knife might make it just a little bit better. Isn't the 10 year anniversary the knife anniversary? ;)

(Now that would be a GREAT anniversary. Enjoy it, Mark.)

No no no! Not the tenth!! I'm way past that one! Must be the 34th!! Yeah that's it, 34 brings a knife!!:D (Sorry you young'uns!!:():p
Aw it's probably both, 10th and 34th. And maybe the 5th, 8th, and 15 also??
I'm pretty sure . . . . . . . . . . .:)

Actually, 30 years is Pearl, and my wife bought me a nice little (old) Sheffield pen with Pearl handles - way back then!:o. I bought her a nice pearl pendant! She's one of those saints also - - - - -shhhhh!

Well, heck, Charlie...how 'bout every year beginning with the 10th?
That will allow a little variety in our patterns and scale material! ;)

I have also found out that is true.

I consider myself very fortunate for having married my wife. Although she doesn't really understand my passion for knives she at least tolerates it. She humored me as I explained to our five-month-old daughter the differences between the steels, patterns, and handle materials used in crafting traditional pocketknives. And just last night she asked me to explain what a burr was.

She's not quite perfect though. Once in a while she'll grab one of my knives for herself when I get a new one in. She did it with my Kerry Hampton desk knife and she did it with a Landi Bushcrafter. What can I say, she has excellent tastes!

What a great thread on a great forum!

I don't drink, so I'll just brew a good strong pot of Seaport Coffee. :)

Thank ya , Elliott. I celebrated 32 years of sobriety earlier this year. And since we're talkin' marriage here too, I'll let ya'll know that next week my wife & I will celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. Oh yeah, and in a few days I'll have my 61st B'day, too. And about 2 weeks ago I sent in the paperwork to start drawing my pension, so I guess I'm officially semi-retired now. I plan to head back to my roots and work in the spring & fall on a farm here in Iowa.

Anyway, what with Carl having his name on the door and being the local yarn-spinner, and Gus & Elliott being the barkeeps and bouncers, and the nice gesture of serving brewed iced tea and coffee in addition to good bourbon and scotch, not to mention allowing a fine cigar to be enjoyed ..... well ..... it just don't get any better than this! :D:cool::thumbup:

Keith, thank you for those fine sentiments and congratulations to you, my friend!:cool:
