"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Anyone else ever tried to be a one-knife guy, but just couldn't be one? It started with a Yellow Case stockman, then went to a Case Peanut, from there to a Buck 110, and now I'm back to the stockman. This is been over a period of six months or so. When I purchased the Peanut, I said to myself, this is it, I'm done buying knvies and I'm going to carry only this knife. Well that lasted about a month, and then I went to a different knife. I wish I could be a one knife type of guy :( Atleast I haven't bought a knife in 6 months or more :D

Certainly not most people on the forums
Although I only carry my peanut now, haven't carried any other knife since i got it. Around the house, in the kitchen, opening packaging, not to mention its the only knife i carry while fishing. Now all i want is one with damascus :D which will probably be the last pocket knife i get in a while

Hey, y'all. I know that Carl's Lounge is usually for fun banter, and I thought about posting this to W&C, but since this is where I spend virtually all of my time here on Bladeforums, I figured I would share here instead. I'm sure a lot of y'all have seen on the news that Texas is on fire and houses are being lost left and right. My wife and I found out last night thst our house was leveled in the fire, so we get to start over. We were driving from Albuquerque when we found out the fires were moving toward our house, but a friend was able to get in and get our cats, my wife's guitars, most of my custom knives, and my gun collection. It's a real blow to lose all the pictures and stuff, but we're okay and that's the important thing. Since this is where I spend almost all my time online, I though I'd let y'all know.

James, I'm terribly sorry to hear this. I've been in touch with friends in TX this week to check on them.

If there's anything I can do to help you just shoot me a PM and we'll take it from there.

I'm grateful that you're both safe despite the pain of the losses you've suffered.

James, that's very sad, and I'm sorry this happened. But you're right, you and the better half are okay. Things are just things, can be replaced. Never cry over anything that can't cry back. Best wishes.

Carl.

James, I'm sorry for your loss, but thanks for letting us know. Many prayers, including mine, will help the healing. May God be with you and yours.

Couldnt agree more! take care to you and yours James, hope you guys can rebuild and make the place your own again.

Sorry to hear that one of us is dealing with this kind of tragedy. I'm glad to hear you and your wife are safe James. Nice too that your neighbor was able to save your cats and some of your treasures. God bless.

Hi,

I too am sorry to hear of your loss. While the places we make memories can be lost, nothing can take the memories from us. I'm glad to hear that you and your Wife are safe and sound.

Dale

James,

I really do not have words other than to stay strong and positive. Sometimes it is tough to turn a negative to a positive, but if we keep taking small bites of things we can end up saying that we became stronger, maybe a better person for going through something that is devastating. Focus on your family and take on the challenges of putting things back together one step at a time and celebrate the finished step while planning the next one.

Robert,
I winced on that one. I hope the fracture is minor and that you heal quickly.

Maybe it was my whining about how expensive them traditionals are when I finally have them over here, but MnBlade got me great deal on a Chessnut Bone Handled CV Peanut.

Now I have a pack of 3 'Nuts:

G10 in TruSharp
Yellow Delrin in CV
Chessnut in CV

Thanx a lot Mark:thumbup:

James, I am glad that you and your wife and pets are okay. I am sorry for you man.

Prayers for those in the towers, planes, Pentagon, and soldiers who are fighting in this war, and those who gave all.
