"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

I will never get used to this: it's 80*F right now and the high for tomorrow is 53*F. Friday's high is 46*F and raining. I will be so sick by this weekend. Forty degree temperature swings don't mix well when you work outdoors. Anyone else having huge temperature swings or has it been more gradual?

That pretty much describes typical Central Texas weather in the "winter". The temperature gradually warms between cold fronts. It was 85 degrees yesterday, and they are expecting it to get down to 39 tonight. It will then get warmer each day until the next cold front. Rinse and repeat until March, when it will stick on "hot" for about seven months. :D When family comes to visit, they ask "What kind of clothes should I pack?" and I answer, "Layers!" :p

We're looking at low temps in the teens during the next few nights. That is more normal for this time of year in my area. Last weekend it was in the low 50's and everyone was excited and outside in t-shirts.

High today was mid 60s. Currently mid 30s. Based on the forecast, normal winter weather has finally arrived. It's even going to be below freezing a few nights this week. Time to put a couple of extra cats on the bed.

Still running warmer than normal in San Diego. Supposed to be in the 80's over the weekend. Our tomato plant is still flowering and producing fruit. (Of course, on the other hand, it didn't produce anything all summer. Go figure.)

Today is Independence day here in Finland, and it's special as it's the Republic's centenary . Last night it snowed a little and this morning a winter Hare was in the garden of the block I live in in the centre of the city. He sends winter greetings too (he's a fair size to massive actually!)

I will lift a glass in your direction! Greatly admire the determination of the Finnish people to stay free and independent in the face of those who would have had it otherwise.

Really just knives for me. I have a lot of guns passed down to me from my grandparents and great grandparents, and a few family heirloom antiques. And I have a lot of knife related material, but that's about it.

Maljanne!
I very much agree with Bartleby's thoughts.
