"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Grapes rule:D They're nice raw, useful as raisins/currants and fantastic when turned into wine:)

Yeah, THAT'S sharp:eek::thumbsup:
Ha! Yeah, I just had to show off. :p If a muggle wants to "borrow a knife for a minute to open a present", they're getting the semi dull scissors on my mini-champ. Not enough designated drivers tonight for side trips to the ER.

:p:thumbsup:

I thought some of the kids and grandkids might enjoy this tale, The Sheffield Thwitel :thumbsup:

Just want to say Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays, to all of you on the Porch!

You're a great bunch of people! I'm happy to be able to share some of my time with you.
It's nice that we can set aside the worlds problems and controversies to come here and share our love of traditional knives, and the traditions that go along with them.

Thanks to all of you!

Thank you Gary and Frank, for all that you do!

Randy, hope you are able to find some joy and happiness in all the dark clouds. Here's hoping that 2018 is an awesome year for you! We're thinking of you, brother!

Glenn

I think we got another 1.5" of snow between my first and last swath.

I feel your pain, Jer. :(:thumbsdown: I shoveled this morning from about 6:15 to 7:45, and just as I was finishing the job, the snow started coming down again like gangbusters! :eek: Going out for round 2 now, although I think we have a winter weather advisory until 7pm. Guests are coming for Christmas dinner tonight, so I should at least make an effort to keep the sidewalk clear.

Also, concerning your photo: what the heck is on your hat?? :confused: I see a knife and an onion, the rest of my family says it's a Christmas ornament.

I hope everyone is having a marvelous Christmas Day!

That's shocking. This place seems mostly self moderated/self disciplined.

So on Dec 8, my birthday, we got @ 11 inches of snow unexpectedly. Chaos naturally ensued with loss of power, borrowing a generator to run my MIL oxygen, a trip to the ER for what was thankfully a minor event with my wife, then her in a minor car accident that Monday. On Tuesday the 12th, I realized I did not have my grail knife in my pocket. I looked under the side of my bed naturally, the seats of the vehicles we drove, friends and family couches where we visited that weekend, even went by the ER to cbeck the big chair I sat in all night. All to no avail. My Tim Britton mammoth ivory teardrop that had taken me 8 years to get, that I had for a year and a half, was gone. With 5 kids it takes a while for some things to be acquired. I borrowed a metal detector from my dad to search the yard where we had played in the snow, but it has rained every night since. We got all tbe gifts we wanted for tbe kids, and a little to each other as usual. As I reached under the foot of the bed and pulled out the last gift to put out, lo and behold there was my knife! No reason at all it should have been where it was, but I was happy to see it! I knew my wife was not getting me a knife this year, because she had not asked what I wanted, and honestly I have a very short list of knives I want anyway. So I opened a couple shirts, then my wife asked where my phone was. I had been teasing her about getting a new super phone lately, and thought "no way she got me that phone"....She told me to check my texts, and there was a photo of a Ruger sp101 I have been wanting for a very long time! I get to pick it up next saturday ( she does not have carry permit to buy instantly). I tell ya, I was floored! Now the day before we had spent our first Christmas with her estranged father who is terminally ill, and he gave me a Jiminez 380! I have not had $ for a gun since my wife and I married in 2008. I sure am blessed to have a wonderful family. Merry Christmas to all!
