Snow kept falling! :) I know a few here who would be amused by the mess downtown with only 20cm!

Not a good situation on the motorways and roads around you JP. Saw the whiteout on French telly this moorning, no laughing matter. I'll post you some old skis, I hate the damn things :D:D;)

I took a skiing lesson once when I was about 13. I was never the most coordinated guy to begin with, mind you, and my feet naturally turn out about 10-15 degrees when I stand or walk. (The opposite of pigeon-toed. My grandmother called it slew-footed.) Of course, to slow down on skis, you’re supposed to turn your feet in and wedge the skis. When I tried that, I ended up with parallel skis, and took off going faster. I was already a fairly large lad at 13, and had at least 20-30 lbs. on the instructor. The poor guy, I almost mowed him down like a bulldozer. I went back to the lodge, bought a hot chocolate, and decided I would stick to fishing. o_O

Trout Hound Trout Hound I had a similar skiing experience when I was in college. My roommate and his buddy and I decided on a whim to ride to Cataloochee to give it a try, not one of us had ever put on a pair of skis. Tried the kids slope. Could not stop, knocking down an entire line of folks at the t bar lift. Tried the intermediate slope, lost one of my skis three times before knocking down another line of skiers. They never gave us poles so we fell standing in line. They asked us to leave and try another area. Never had another urge to ski again.

When a child, I used to go skiing in a nearby field long enough with a good slope. OK to slide down, but to do it again we had a 10' walk on the climbing road (few cars, ok, no ski lift).
Shoes then were made to last several lifetimes (bro, me and maybe my son:confused:), heavy like an anvil, of course no quick release.
So, I decided I would never be the new Killy and went with an easier gear! :)
My children were luckier with new stuff they like skiing with. Now I'm just a ski-bar champion.

Got the internet hooked up today so I am officially back on the Porch. I know it's just been a few months but it seems I have been living out of a box forever. Tonight I am in a very comfortable apartment watching Netflix and typing on my laptop. I want to thank all of you that bought knives from me and the four of you that just sent me a monetary gift (you know who you are) because without your help I would still be digging through a box to find something to wear but tonight everything is hanging in a closet. I have managed to keep most of the knives folks gifted me so I still have somewhat of a collection as well as my prized collection of Glennbad stag modded knives. I did have to sell a couple of gifted knives. The two I had to sell were a 15 Boys Knife given to me by Ron (Half Stop) and a 15 Beer Scout given to me by Shawn (Wurwulf). I asked both of these guys permission to sell the knives and without hesitation they both agreed. Both of these men are stand up guys and true friends. From the anonymous donor from Kansas who sent the care package of knives when I was at one of my lowest points to all of you that PM'd or emailed me and wished me well thank you from the bottom of my heart. Also Mr. Paul Hilborn stayed in touch by text and phone and Jack (Mrknife) whom I have threatened to adopt many times were of tremendous encouragement. And though I had to sell all of my beloved barlows as well as so many others I was able to turn them into a living room set, bedroom set, kitchen table, 43" HDTV, blu ray player, dishes, cookware and so on. My kitchen knives now consist of a Buck 119, 2 GEC H2o's Mrknife gave me some time back and a Spyderco Delica and no one can say "don't use that nasty thing on the food." :D I hope to settle this thing completely and get at least some of my money back at some point but for now I'm happy and no longer homeless. When I get paid at the end of the month I am going to buy a knife it won't be expensive and most likely a RR or Opinel or a low end Case but with it I will host a GAW to say thanks to all of you for allowing this place to be my internet home and all of you my internet family. By the way if any of you need a set of drums PM me.
