Carothers and Guns

Yep. An M1A Tanker with an added Picatinny handguard and on a Delta14 chassis (glass-filled Nylon). You can attach any Mossberg 500 stock to it. Appologies for possible repost:

Nice! My coworker has an M1A for sale at a good price, but it’s got an AR style stock on it and I was looking for traditional shape wood or synthetic. I already have multiple ARs, so it was a no go for me.

I did pick up a new Colt 1911 recently and I LOVE that thing.

Send me a PM.

Seen it in the other thread, too, congrats !

Not my sexiest photo ever but here’s my Franken-M1A Scout. It started as a normal walnut stocked Springfield M1A I bought used but at this point its mostly USGI/NM parts, the stock and hand guard have been heavily hand fit by me with sanding to help free float the barrel and epoxy to fill in the selector switch gap. I had a decent amount of work put into it by the folks at LRB as well to unitize the gas cylinder, lighten up the trigger etc.

The oprod shit out on me by letting the bolt to jump its track at around 1500 rounds. Apparently it was a bit loose and that combined with a possible hot round seriously damaged the op rod so I'm very impatiently waiting to get her back from Springfield Armory for warranty work.

People weren't lying telling me it was gonna be a massive time/money sink. For the amount of time, work and trips to the gunsmith I put into her I probably could’ve just bought an LRB tanker outright but on the other hand I’ve pretty much custom built my rifle and am now incredibly familiar with everything about it. I absolutely adore this platform even with all its faults.

And not for nothing, here's the .75 MOA group (~1.8 MOA with the cold bore shot) someone who's a way better shot than I am managed to print with M80 ball off the bench with my rifle.

M1A has the most satisfying kerchunk of a recoil IMO. I have the scout as well. Nice 3DAP too 👍

Yep. Thank god the government has slowed me down accumulating them .... :)

Funnily enough, I bought my first one in CA, partially because it doesn't need a bullet button, the CA government thinks it looks like a hunting rifle:

Then I got a little deeper into the platform. This one will be next at the range:

Definitely, I shot it NY compliant for a good while and putting on that muzzle brake out of state it was shocking how soft the rifle shoots now. I have no problems getting quick follow up shots even standing at 100 yards. It is loud as hell though, had multiple people complain about me the first time I took it to an indoor range lol.

Also appreciate you noticing the bag. I've put that thing through absolute hell, it's not a 3DAP though its a similar bag, the overload. I've hiked up to 12,000 feet with 60 lbs with that thing on, occasionally strapping a 50 cal receiver (additional 60 pounds) on top of that. That bag comes with me wherever I go.
