Carothers and Guns

Final Valor test with the Ammo I'll carry it with: 185gr Speer Gold Dot LE. Most accurate handgun I own. Shot some steel at 50 yards, too :)

Not cheap, but this is some nice ammo for 45ACP; data from Speer:

I've used it in my 3" Colt before; nice to get the full velocity in the Valor.

For TriggerTech fans….I’ve got them in many of my rifles….they came out with a Glock 17 trigger last year but, even though it’s the best G17 trigger ever, it wasn’t approved for completion, namely IDPA, because there was no ‘safety’ thingy poking out out the trigger.

They offered to upgrade the original TT Ace trigger but I was always taught the safety is between the shooter ears….not in all cases unfortunately.

I needed one of the new ones for a Gen5 I’ve had since they came out and it’s astonishing compared to the ‘sponge’ a person gets from the factory….

It was a literally perfect fit and only took a few minutes to install their parts and pieces….while I had everything apart I did install their light weight trigger take up spring and their light firing pin plunger spring…..I left the adjustable weight of pull in the middle where it comes from TT….about 3.5#, minimal take up, no creep, extra-short and extremely crisp reset.

I haven’t checked it lately, but I am pretty sure that this awesome set-up is not on the California approved list. 🤣 It is fun to see what is possible in non-blue States. 👍

I've only got the one TT in a rifle but have been super pleased with it. If I ever need another replacement trigger for a firearm it'll be one of theirs.

Very nice! I’ve been eyeing the 1911 offerings from Dan Wesson and I feel like they are probably the sweet spot for cost vs fitment/accuracy/build quality. Sure there are “nicer” 1911s out there (Les Baer, Nighthawk, Wilson Combat, Ed Brown, etc) but from what I understand there gets to be a point of diminishing returns for the cost increase to those manufacturers.

Great to see those real world results. I’ve been taking a really hard look at the V-Bob in .45 which is basically just a commander sized Valor.

Awesome shooting and picture. +1 for the UF!
