Carothers and Guns

I still have this Springfield Armory I got at a gun show around 1991. It was a parkerized stock 1911A1. I had a little customization done. It has a Bar-Sto barrel, and a sweet hard chrome blued finish which was popular back in the day.
BTW Those are Busse black paper micarta grips. 😉

Just a little boot dagger 🗡 combo. My favorite 1911’s are Les Baer and I’ve tried many others over the years but when it comes to grouping and tack driving his are the best IMO. They also lock up tighter than your prom date! Two of my favorite geniuses, John Moses Browning and Nate The Great! What a meeting of the minds that would be.

I think I posted my Owyhee before but taking my daughter shooting it for her first time this weekend on her 9th birthday. The case has been an ongoing project for a while, I can't make a living if I make too much stuff for myself :)

Nathan the Machinist Nathan the Machinist this is the butt end of the bolt on my old Browning A-bolt.

Even before I discovered your knives, I always thought the finish on this piece (all edges of it) was surprisingly sloppy. Your “as machined” finish puts this turd to shame. Everything else on the gun is clean. Someone had a bad day (or a worn out tool?) when they made this piece.

It’s the most. Wonderful. Time. Of the yeeeear. (Sorry to put that song in your head!)
It's the most wonderful time of the year
With Carothers a'selling,
And everyone telling you "two weeks" is here...
It's the most wonderful time of the year

It's the hap-happiest season of all
With those SDFKs and the Shivs on the way
When Jo gives a call
It's the hap-happiest season of all...

(Let that be a lesson to you...you earworm monger you!)

ETA: Maybe this will bring a little distraction to Jo the Machinist Jo the Machinist and Nathan the Machinist Nathan the Machinist from the crap that dropped in their laps today.

I'd love to find someone to do some 20 LPI or 25 LPI checkering on the front strap of my Colt Rail Gun.

I think that, in the 70's, 80's, or 90's, that may've been a bit easier than now. "Manual" checkering has always been a bit of an art. However, with so many Manufacturers offering checkering on their various models, I reckon that it is now probably a dying art. 🙁

I love a checkered front strap but a small piece of skid tape on the front strap works just as good, or even a bit better. It doesn’t look as nice, but very functional.

I use this stuff on the grips of my Glocks:

Not my photo, (it's a buddy's), but it gives you an idea. I use mine on the side panels, as opposed to the front strap. Works well and is just the right aggression.

Thanks Elliott. The rubberized stuff works great for CCW stuff. The skateboard/sandpaper style provides maximum grip and is great for areas that don’t rub up against your skin.
You're welcome, brother.

Yeah, I carry AIWB exclusively...except when I go for LEOSA qual, when I wear OWB...which I do this Wednesday morning with the local sheriff's office. The captain does my day and (simulated) night qual. I couldn't ask for more from those guys. I'm lucky to have them.
