Carothers and Guns

I really want to post in this thread, but I have one gun in jail at my FFL because my state requires a permit to carry or permit to purchase for handguns, and I turned in my permit to carry renewal only twelve days before it expired because I couldn't get time to take the renewal class until January 20. Turned the packet in on January 23, my check was cashed on January 27, and now I'm sitting on my hands waiting for it to be issued. A second gun is with the maker who said finishing would "hopefully be in the next week or so" back on January 27.

Permit issue can legally take up to 30 days after the application date, so obviously being a government agency even though this is literally just running your name through two databases, none of them start the process until Day 29, so I could still be waiting six more days to be able to pick up my guns.

If the gunsmith finishing the second one gets it done before then.

YOU GUYS THESE ARE SOME SERIOUS GRAILS COMING IN.

I can pocket carry that 43x. It stole the show at my last shooting session. It runs / ejects well. The Rival Arms barrel groups well - rounds touching at 10 yards with some Hornady 124 XTP that I had. To my surprise the DPM guide rod is very much worthwhile in the 43x comp or no comp. FYI a DPM recoil system makes recoil worse in a 19.

I almost bought the 510 last two weeks ago at a gun show. Love it.
Have you run a suppressor on it yet?
I have not. A suppressor may get purchased with my bonus next month but right now I don't have one.

I ran the first 150 rounds through the 510 last week and it was flawless. A mix of S&B and Sig FMJs and both ran through it perfectly.

I can attest that my Henry .22 does, I can even hand it off while calling crows and watch others get some shooting in. A friend picked this one off about 100 yards up the hill in a tree.

Your supposed to put a black bar over his eyes and say he is an operator, Jake. You made him look like a Smurf.

Can’t believe you’d do him like that.

What's the purpose in killing crows?

The same as hunting other predator/opportunistic animals, the regulations are mainly for population control since eating them isn’t really advisable. Crows not only do lots of damage to crops but they’re also well known to seek out nests of other birds so they can eat the eggs or even the hatchlings since crows also kill small animals. Hunting them can be pretty hard, they’re extremely smart and have amazing senses so it’s a good challenge and it’s also a way to hunt during the winter after deer season has ended when the ice fishing sucks.

A note about crow seasons; Crows are classified as a migratory bird so Federal regulations state they can only be hunted for a set amount of days per calendar year (I believe it’s still around 120 for crows). Because of this, many states only allow you to hunt them a few days per week so that the hunting season isn’t so condensed.

This was an extremely lucky charity raffle win, and it's a privilege to own such a grail pistol from one of the newest APG members, whose membership was sponsored by Ted Yost. I honestly would never have been able to afford a gun like this or been willing to put up the money even if I'd had it. It's the finest gun I will likely ever own.

And it's a shame that it overshadows this other fine gun that just happened to finally get completed around the same time - Langdon Tactical Beretta 92G Compact full option build - action tune, NP3 small parts, Spartan sights, full carry bevel, and cut and crowned barrel. This one is a fine shooter!
