I was fishing a salmon run outside of Anchorage once, and when I looked to one side, I was looking up at the Chugach Mountains, an impressive glacier, bald eagles flying by. It was truly postcard-worthy.

If I looked 180º in the opposite direction, there was a car on fire, and beyond that, some dudes unloading full autos into the river bank.

And I thought to myself, "This is Alaska in a nutshell."
