Case Barlow is back

I've had one of these on preorder since late August. The first knife I've preordered. Hopefully they won't ship it next week while I'm in Tennessee 🤞

To be clear I was talking about the opening hole.
I don't necessarily hate how these Barlow's look, they did get them right with the XX bolsters and no shields.

I will say however it bothers me a bit that they got it right straight out of the gate with this modernized Barlow, but dropped thr ball on many of their traditional Barlows with sterile bolsters and a shield.

I realise that some don't like the modern-traditional looks of these, and that's okay. This is just my take on these modern Barlows.

I got my first hand-me-down Barlow from my Dad about 70 years ago, and I've always been a Barlow fan. I have some that are 100, 80, 60 years old, and a bunch of the newer Queen, GEC, and Case models. A few years ago, when the Lionsteel Barlows came out, many considered them to not real traditionals, and I suppose in a way, they're not. But my personal take was that building a traditional knife with modern materials, and a modern take on the design, would be a good thing. I grabbed a couple up and I wasn't disappointed.

I like the S35VN steel, and I hope these new Case Barlows turnout as good as I think they will. As for those who prefer their traditionals, well, more traditional look, I can see your point too.

At this point I am not a fan of the new crossroads barlow. I think it will sell well. But I am to much of a traditionalist I guess. For some reason I don't feel this way for the sod buster crossroads. Not sure why. But time will tell. Maybe if they put real bone or wood on the crossroads I might like them enough to overlook the other things. Time will tell.

There's two rabbit holes here - the Crossroads Sod Buster Jr. and the Crossroads Barlow. I've been down the Crossroads Sod Buster Jr. rabbit hole and have at least one of each (one Blue Denim on back order) Case has made. Although I really like the new Crossroads Barlow, I'm not going to go down that rabbit hole. Case has done a really good job with this new Crossroads Series and hope other patterns are brought into this new series.

I'm waiting to see if Case makes a Crossroads Sodbuster. The barlow looks interesting and hopefully they release more cover options.

The Crossroads have all been single blades so far. Maybe a Texas Jack, or Trapper next. I like my Case stockmans, but three blades might be a little much for the screw together assembly method. I dunno.

Yeah, three would be a stretch especially, with the laminate wood versions.

Not a huge fan. It’s just more of the same that is coming out of numerous cutleries in Italy like Fox, Lion Steel, etc.

I like the idea of screw assembly for maintenance and repair, but I don’t really like the look of screws on traditional knife patterns.

Your examples you've posted are definitely lookers, as well.

I have the light colored Richlite Barlow on preorder, and think I'll be good with just that one, but we'll see how it goes!

I do want one of those blue jean micarta Crossroads Sodbusters as well, those white liners really pop on those.
