SHC's description can be a bit confusing. Technically, either could be black & tan. They're listed as:Interesting that all y'all ordered the tan. I was thinking the tan one also, based on the pics available. I thought the other one would be the more popular.
I decided to wait until some good pics got posted.

I got the second option.![]()
That color looks so much better, more reminiscent of their old redbone.I bought a crimson bone Barlow from the site with hills of shepherds. I was really disappointed when I received it, for two reasons: the dye was spotty and pinkish, and the bolsters and springs were misaligned on the spine: the mark side bolster and main blade spring protruded below the spine.

You can see the pink dye and misalignment of the top edges of the bolsters.

I ground the bolster and springs flush with the spine and re-dyed the scales with Rit scarlet and I’m as happy with it as I could be (considering that it’s stainless, not carbon).

I personally pass on the SS blades instead of just living with it, I have a lot of disappointment when they offer another knife I want in covers I want then kill the deal with SS blades but at least I have more money in my wallet.
Good deal
One vendor is calling the black and tan "woodgrain".
The renderings are like Buck's: Hard to say which one I'd prefer without seeing them in person or at least real pics. I'll bet they're both very handsome knives.
I went with the tan also, as it looked like a vintage butterscotch micarta to me, which I really like.Interesting that all y'all ordered the tan. I was thinking the tan one also, based on the pics available. I thought the other one would be the more popular.
