Case's new Rogers Jigged Walnut Bone

Not trying to derail your thread but some have mentioned being less than pleased with Case's dye here. I recently bought another Copperlock because the blue jigged bone in the pictures looked so good. When I received it the other day the covers looked like they had been painted with a school kids little 6 color paint kit. I'm going to experiment on it and see if I can do anything to make it better.

What was the stated color for that Randy? Definitely not their best.
Thanks, Neal

I'm not even sure it's bone . . . looks like synthetic to me.

Jeff, I think you are right.

The "American Workman" Copperlock has jigged blue delrin covers that look like that.

I thought it was Delrin too but it's a model 61749L SS and even Case's website claims it's jigged bone but it sure doesn't look like it. I only paid $36 for it so worst case I can use the stuffing out of it without worrying about how it might affect the looks because it's about as ugly as they get. Or it may be time for another GAW I could call it the ugly knife GAW. :D This is supposed to be Navy Blue Neal.

Unfortunately, Case uses the same number for jigged delrin so it can get confusing. Here's a link to the delrin version on a BF dealer website:

That last pattern intrigued me. On Case's website it's labeled as a Medium Stockman (3 1/4", #63090). I don't know that I've seen that style of equal end stockman from Case before, although I'm by know means a Case expert (and a search of the model # shows that they've produced it in other handle materials). New to me, though.
+5K!! Thanks for pointing this out, Barrett; I like the looks of that "variation" on the stockman pattern.

Barrett, I borrowed this photo from your post above. I just ordered this Case. Thanks for the heads up. I asked the dealer for the 'darkest' one possible, so we'll have to see. He had a few different colors available but the "pinstripe" description was the clincher for this NY Yankees fan. I'll post photos as soon as it gets here. If it's as nice as my Humpback Stockman I'll be happy.

Definitely looking forward to seeing yours, Alan! I, too, am ecstatic about my Humpback stockman, and have high hopes for this new-to-me-090-model.

The 090 Stockman is one of my favorite patterns, and I think you'll like it. It shares fully sunk joints with the Humpback Stockman, too, and on this knife that means the blades ride really low in the frame -- unlike some Stockman patterns that have very high-riding sheepsfoot blades. Absolutely vanishes in-pocket, but it's a pleasing size in-hand (at least for me).

The new bone looks like it has a lot of potential. This knife should look great in a warm brown bone. Looking forward to your photos!
Dadpool, thanks for the testimonial. Are you willing to post a picture of your 090 (even though it's not Rogers jigged walnut bone)?

Dadpool's 63090 is gorgeous.

While we await his reply, here's a couple of mine. 2008 Harvest Orange with polished blades and 2012 Gray Bone with As Ground blades.

I'll echo Dadpool's comments. A very nice pattern.

Very nice, Rick; thanks for the photos!
So the 63090 pattern is shorter than the Humpback stockman. right?

Thanks, GT.

Yes, I have both in front of me now. My Humpback Stockman is 3 1/2 inches closed and my Gray Bone 63090 is 3 3/8 inches closed like Jack said.

In my opinion, the smaller size suits the pattern very well. I think it's the perfect size/shape combo but that's only my opinion.

EDIT: That's incorrect. My 63090 is 3 1/4 inches closed. Maybe I just can't read a ruler very well.:)

Maybe someone else can measure theirs. Neither one of my measurements match a popular dealer's measurements. They list the Humpback at 3 5/8 and the 63090 at 3 3/8 but that's not what I'm getting.

This past Monday I stopped by the Case Knife dealer in Selma on my way home from Fort Bragg. The owner was opening a box of knives from Case; she had several patterns handled in the new Walnut Rodgers jigged bone; Peanuts, the 90 Med Stockman, the Mini-Copperlock, and I believe a 47 pattern Stockman (could have been an 18, I didn't look it over as I was wanting a Peanut.) The threading is a very nice touch. I think the bone jigging and color is quite similar to the better 1970's Case offerings and I also believe that Case will sell a lot of these if they widen the line - SO much better than all the "Easter Egg" colors of the last 20 years. Even the lightest ones were nice looking, some are darker on one side than the other, just like many 1970's Case I've seen. I'll probably pick up a 90 on my next trip south. OH

Nice looking Peanut, OH. I really like the looks of the Medium Stockman posted earlier too. The bone color and the threaded bolsters really set these off. I'm surprised I didn't notice them when I visited the Case museum store last Sunday. I think I'd have looked for a nice example and brought one home.

That Peanut does look very nice.

I'm usually more of a fan stainless than carbon steel but I think these covers are screaming for CV blades.
