Cast Iron Beckerheads, Sound Off!

Cast Iron Cooking, Finally a thread I can sink my teeth into.

I'll start off slow,

Basic coffee and bacon,

The riverstore just put the Lodge sportsman's grill on sale at $59 delivered. Their everyday price for this item is $70.

Got one coming to arrive next Tuesday.

Looking forward to using it! Hope it gets here without being beat up like the one biscuit ordered . . . :(

I need a good burger...

I'm burger hungry too. Damn those look good.

While down in Alabama, I picked up "steak trimmings"--basically ground beef made from T-bone and ribeye trimmings. Made for some excellent burgers on the 4th.

Looking forward to using it! Hope it gets here without being beat up like the one biscuit ordered . . . :(

My replacement was fine, and they were very quick to ship out the second one. It was in the mail right after I filled out the exchange request.
So don't worry. The River will take care of you.

Ssssteak trimmings? Lol im gonna have to check with my butcher and see if they offer something similar.

Our daughter bought this little cast iron skillet at an antique store. She gave it to us as a gift some years later.

The wife used it tonight . . . works good! :D

The little skillet is really heavy for its size.

The salmon croquettes and butterbeans from the covered pan also hit the spot.

Good meal!

Actually the cast iron is the only one in action but the pic also includes a carbon steel blini pan that is a staple on the stove top - perfect size for egg for a bagel and also great stovetop to oven utensil for a piece of fish, other single serve item.

The cast iron has a potato-zucchini hash brown casserole - shredded potato & zucchini, rosemary and other spices, egg, and cheese on top.

This kind of covers cast iron and grilling, and baking,

French toast and bacon,

Hotdogs, baked in homemade bread dough with cheddar cheese inside,

I don't want to see this thread sink too far, so here's this. Not cast iron but a buck at a yard sale. :D I put a copper wire keeper on the lid and after a good clean up it will go in the camp box.

First up, Fire

Some Birch bark to get things going,

Add some Cherry, and we're all set,

Grill Shot,

Chop some veggies, the BK-15 is an awesome food prep blade.

Chop up the left over potatos from last night,

Slice up a piece of bacon, sauté it a bit, add veggies first, when tender, add taters,

Throw on a few eggs,

Can you ever have enough pictures of eggs on an open fire?

Throw on some toast,

And there you have it,

I need to grab some pics, but dang... I probably use my cast iron skillet to cook in 99% of the time. Either on the Grill or on the stove cast iron is the way to go!
