CBM's - Customized Benchmade's

Keyman, due to an account setting snafu I sent you a few emails. It wasn't enabled that I could receive emails from members. I still can't figure out how to send PM's. The option doesn't show up. Ha!

Ampstar-I'm not 100% sure but as a registered user I don't think you can send PM's. Be patient with Keyman, he bounces around to a couple of different forums I believe, but the wait is worth it.

I know. Just realized today, though, that if he had replied I wouldn't have gotten it I think. Thanks for the heads up though. Kudos!

Awesome looking scales! What material did you use? I would like to have a set for my BM 520. I love the knife, but hate the factory scales.

That's how I felt about my adamas, it's black g10. If you have tools patience and time, I would say try it.

I have tools, patience, and time. Just no material. Ha! Where did you get your G10? Everywhere I look the sheets are always just a little shy of wide enough to fit the knife's liners.

I'm not sure if we can post advertising places or not, but I got mine at knifemakers USA. And 1/4 is where I started, but I wanted thick. And that was think even for my knife. 3/16 would be better for most applications. For size I bought a small sheet not precut. And the krinite looks very cool. I'd like to see it on a Cbm.

Yeah. that's where I first saw the kirinite. Thanks for the thickness info. I want mine to be a little thinner than the factory scales, but if I don't put any crazy grip-grinds on it then it should be 4.0. Still hoping that Keyman will have time to do a set...... Man does some beautiful work. I'll piddle around till then though. Always good to have a way to keep your hands busy.

What tool tips did you use for cutting and drilling your scales? I have the dremel... just don't know what size or type of atatchments I should use.

Here's some of my work... more coming all the time.

deathofallthings, ireally like this scale shape! i hope you dont mind If I were to take from it for my own project. is it comfortable in hand?

@ampstar
trial and error. practice on some wood and find patterns you like the start on g10 and you will get the hang of it. I used a drill for holes. dremel to counter sink, and beltsander to shape the overall scale.

The black MOP kirinite is awesome and would be great on a folder. The lava flow kirinite I think would be better suited to a fixed blade, but would have to see it first. I think this material will be what I request as well. Its just so slick looking.

Oh, right on. I'm shopping for my BM520, and likely every other knife I own as well. Ha! Well, its actually a BM523 tanto. I was fudging my info by mistake, but the scales are the same.

Hey, thanks. That thing is a beast, isn't it? Nice knife though. Kinda reminds me of a Gator almost, but with much better quality.

It's really really comfortable, though it doesn't look it. I don't mind if you use the shape.

Just got these done for Different.(Not sure what he goes by on this forum) Did these opposite of how you usually do a bolster. I ran the carbon fiber the whole length of the knife with the wood on top. This way it has the strength of carbon fiber instead of wood where the liners don't reach.
